BOWIE ON SOUL TRAIN 50 YEARS AGO TODAY
“He’s so divine, his soul shines...”
Fifty years ago today, David Bowie earned the privilege of an appearance on the famous US music show, Soul Train, though it wasn’t broadcast until January the following year.
Two tracks were performed, his current single Fame, his very first #1 in the US, and his next release, Golden Years.
A nervous Bowie (calmed a little by the ingestion of something or other), answered questions from the presenter, Don Cornelius, and the audience.
It’s hard to imagine what those in attendance made of this bizarre apparition, but it’s clear from the broadcast that they very much appreciated this very funky British boy.
Check out a bit of a glitchy video of this classic performance and interview on YouTube: https://t.co/na346qV5Rw
