The myth isn't that Kobe was a great defender. He was.
The myth is that he was a defensive juggernaut for all 12 selections.
His reputation remained elite long after the defensive impact stopped being elite.
At some point, the awards started honoring the name, not the defense.
This is facts.
- 1 Jay-Z album on the Billboard 200 this week.
- 12 Drake albums on the Billboard 200 this week.
The one Jay-Z album is Reasonable Doubt and the majority of it comes from the Vinyl sales (ty Target!) since it ranked as the #1 Vinyl album the past week.
Jay-Z has also released 13 solo studio albums while Drake has only released 11 solo studio albums.
Jay-Z copers will try to make an excuse that Jay-Z hasn't released since 4:44 which was ten years ago, but that argument falls apart.
Drake's first two albums are also still charting:
Thank Me Later (2010): 181 weeks on the chart
Take Care (2013): 696 weeks on the chart
You can't argue the facts here.
I believe in re-reading and re-watching your favourite books and movies at different stages of your life. the plot never changes, but your perspective does.
