I am so weary of hearing Canada is picking fights with Trump. We have had restrained responses to every one of Trump's attacks. Every single fight was initiated by the Trump administration. All the ones taken to US courts were deemed violations of the treaty or the US constution.
So let's review 6 years of Donald Trump's attacks on Canada.
Trump’s reckless new 50% tariffs on Canadian imports will hurt Americans.
These tariffs are paid by U.S. importers and passed straight on to consumers — driving up prices on everyday essentials when working people can least afford it.

This is such a big lie that only FOX news could try to repeat it so often in the hope that some folks would buy it
Before Trump came along, about 99% of goods traded between Canada and the United States were tariff-free. Even where Canada maintained protections, such as dairy, the permitted import thresholds were high and were not being exceeded. This is reasonable to protect the family farm.
The United States also had Buy America policies requiring that a majority of the content in many goods purchased by governments be made in the United States. That is not unreasonable, but it is certainly a trade restriction.
Canada and the United States had built one of the most tariff- and barrier-free trading relationships in the world.
Canada, with about 10% of the U.S. population and an economy smaller than California’s, was always the more vulnerable partner. That is exactly why a rules-based trade agreement was essential.
The U.S. economy prospered enormously under this relationship. Meanwhile, iconic Canadian companies and brands such as Roots, The Bay, Inco, Tim Hortons, Molson and Labatt ceased to be wholly Canadian-owned or controlled.
Through all of this, Canada honoured its treaties and trade agreements.
The myth that Canada was somehow “cheating” because it took countermeasures to protect itself from unilateral U.S. actions is nonsense. These were limited retaliatory trade measures taken in response to U.S. actions. Cheating is breaking the rules you agreed to.
If you are Canadian and knowingly use social media to spread lies and disinformation that weaken your own country, you are betraying your country’s interests.
Fair debate does not need lies. It requires informed people and facts.
This afternoon, I joined Rick Hansen alongside my fellow premiers to sign a historic agreement to improve accessibility and remove barriers for Canadians with disabilities.
We’re proud to support Rick’s mission to build the next generation of champions for accessibility and inclusion. We’re also supporting the Rick Hansen Foundation with funding to host a national Youth Leadership Summit next year.

Seriously, with pedophilia now deeply ingrained as part of the Republican Party platform, is anyone surprised anymore? If Jeffrey Epstein were alive today, he'd probably be a Senator.
Jared Kushner holds no government position.
Yet he is our Middle East Envoy.
The Saudis have paid him $100M and invested $2B in his firm.
He pushed for Saudi nuclear enrichment over the objection of national security officials.
Today his father-in-law made it happen.
But what about my paintings…
To my fellow Americans: Please listen.
Despite the attacks, distractions, and false narratives, Canada 🇨🇦 remains one of America’s closest and most faithful friends.
Canadians have stood with us in our darkest hours—from helping Americans escape during the Iran hostage crisis, to responding to natural disasters, to opening their homes and airports to us after 9/11.
Canada is not only our neighbor. It is one of our most important trading partners, our ally, and our friend.
If Americans could choose any country in the world to share our longest border with, we would choose Canada every time.
That is the truth—and it is time we stood up for our friends.
Hey MAGA Texans.
Let me reintroduce you to Adam Hoffman. He raped his son’s best friend from the age of six years old to nine years old. For three years this man raped a little boy.
Paxton made sure his buddy only got a 60 day sentence. Oh wait it gets better, he didn't even serve the full sixty days.
Wait wait, it's gets even better. He doesn't have to register as a sex offender and his record has been wiped clean.
MAGA maniacs want women to go to prison for miscarriages but are cool with pedophiles going free.
Ken Paxton is a disgusting criminal, that's why Trump endorsed him.
Make sure you have a plan to vote. @jamestalarico is what Texas needs. Not more of the Epstein Class.

Hoekstra: "You do not come into another country and run political ads against the President. We don't come into Canada and run political ads against the PM. That's not appropriate behaviour."
Are White House-amplified op-eds fair game, Pete? @USAmbCanada
FT Exclusive: The Trump administration has collected more than $13bn in revenues from Venezuelan oil sales this year, according to FT calculations, but has said almost nothing about what has happened to the money. https://t.co/j1PIzzMlZf
Ford: "I feel some days that I'm standing alone protecting Canada, and I need everyone else to get on side. Everyone should be out there being a little more vocal."
Hurricane Katrina? Canada sent warships & supplies.
Wildfires in 2021? Canada sent water bombers.
9/11? Canada housed 33,000 stranded Americans.
Now Trump mocks them and says "fix your own forests."
Canada has NEVER abandoned us. This is embarrassing, un-American, and wrong.
Sen. @PattyMurray (D-WA) objects @SenJohnHoeven (R-ND)'s resolution to hold Canada accountable for wildfire damages:
"What on earth are my colleagues doing here...? Canadian firefighters cross that border to help us fight our wildfires right here all the time."
Ford: "Everyone's seen President Trump in action. He's sitting with the PM the night before, all buddy-buddy, and next thing you know, he wakes up and wants to throw on 50% tariffs. I wouldn't trust him as far as I could throw him."
Today, Canada’s premiers met in Charlottetown to discuss how we can stand up to tariffs, support our workers and unlock our country’s incredible potential.
Team Canada is united as we work to protect Canadians.
WATCH: “Because this is just silly. And, at the end of the day, the United States needs to decide what they want. Do they want a strong partner in Canada, where we work together? Or are they keen to go it alone?” - Premier David Eby

Rep. Smith: "Apparently this fire's up in Canada and the wind is blowing south, so it's Canada's fault. We have to slap a 50% tariff on them. This is the way we govern? It's insane."
