I have my doubts over VdV but yeah they probably compliment each other the best, certainly OOP when you look at Van Hecke’s aggression when committing and VdV’s recovery pace. Agree, box defending a huge concern with that tho.

I do question why Senesi would leave Bournemouth for Spurs to be an option behind VdV in a year you don’t have European football as well when (I expect) there would’ve been better moves for him.

Van Hecke to Spurs makes a lot of sense. With Senesi as well, in possession they’re going to be (as expected under De Zerbi) a top ball playing side.

The worry would be out of possession, especially on transition. Several times this year we’ve seen Senesi get caught high, committing to challenges with his direct opponent. Van Hecke likewise. Not to mention the fact that the Dutchman had the most errors leading to goals in the 25/26 season, so there’s huge pros and cons to this partnership.
