Talking Amy about Fly tipping in Middlesbrough.
“Policies like stronger enforcement, vehicle seizure for serious offenders, and better waste tracking would make a real difference to communities like Newport where residents want action”
International law lies in tatters. Trump openly boasts about seizing control of the oil & running Venezuela for the long term and now threatens Cuba.
World leaders must
speak up and defend the rules based system. The rule of law matters.
This happened today in Nakawa during our campaigns! These criminal-minded police officers are seen kicking and stamping this man's head. The brutality continues unabated. These are crimes against humanity which the world must not ignore!

The Govt has today published it's Child Poverty Strategy.
With measures including the end of the two child limit, 550,000 children will be lifted out of poverty by 2030.
I look forward to working with @nechildpoverty and others to make this a reality.

Less than a week ago, the PM warned about rising racist and divisive rhetoric.
Yet the government’s focus on asylum and immigration — while urgent issues like child poverty need their focus — risks fuelling that very division.
My comment on today's briefing👇
Great to spend some time in Newport ward this morning with ward councillors Jill Ewan, John Kabuye and Anne Romaine, Mayor Chris Cooke and Police and Crime Commissioner Matt Storey.
Undoubtedly alleyways remain a big problem for residents - cllrs are working tirelessly on this.
Honoured to attend the Remembrance Day service at the Middlesbrough Cenotaph, representing Newport Ward and my family in Uganda who served and sacrificed.
May we always choose peace, dialogue, and understanding over conflict.

Our strength lies in our unity, and together we can ensure that our town continues to thrive.
John Baptist Kabuye
Labour Councillor for Newport Ward
Middlesbrough Council.
Statement on the 4th August Riots: One Year Anniversary Today.
As one of the Councillors for Newport Ward I want to address the events that took place on 4th August last year. Middlesbrough is a proud and diverse community, a town where people of different backgrounds have lived
conversations about the issues that affect us as individuals and as a community. Only by listening to one another can we truly understand and move forward together.
Let us focus on building a stronger, united Middlesbrough, one where every resident feels heard, valued, and safe.
What a day at Goals, Middlesbrough! ⚽️

Great to welcome Bariga LCDA’s senior team from Lagos 🇳🇬 to Middlesbrough! Took them around our Town Hall, MIMA & Teesside Uni. Inspiring conversations with their Majority Leader on how we can share knowledge and improve lives in both councils. #LocalGov#ExchangeOfIdeas
I'm a huge supporter of MFC Foundation and Show Racism the Red Card so it was a pleasure to meet them at the Riverside Stadium last month.
Here's a write up from the day and what it was all about.

“Honoured to join residents, schoolchildren, council officers & councillors at the VE Day celebration at Newport Community Hub. A moving tribute to those who gave their lives for our freedom. May we keep learning from the past for a better future.
The scale of poverty in Middlesbrough is an absolute scandal.
Govt has to prioritise its anti-poverty strategy - scrapping the two-child benefit limit and not pressing ahead with the cuts to welfare payments.
Driving down poverty has to be our priority.
