Strong partnerships deliver results.
In Alabama, our partnership between state and county government is fueling good progress.
From education to public safety and roads to jobs, I was proud to join @AlabamaCounties to highlight the work we’re accomplishing together. #alpolitics
Packed house for our SSUT discussion. Counties fully support SSUT and oppose all efforts to dismantle Alabama’s efficient collection program!!

Good article describing the process so many of our county servants face daily. Kudos to Josh and his local paper for giving the public some insight into the daily efforts, overall mission and challenges #67onevoice@AlabamaCounties@EngineersNACE

@JGaddyEMA Every storm’s timing is different and that would have to be accounted for in the planning. I never saw one ounce of regret in the teachers that were there to protect their students. I think they would do it again. I would be interested to know how they feel.
@JGaddyEMA The most realistic option would for that day to be optional. Any child would be excused. But for parents who don’t have childcare or any safe shelter they’re kids could still go to school. Even if buses aren’t available you could leave it to the parents to pick up/drop off.
@JGaddyEMA With the severity of the storm and a direct hit, the damage was catastrophic. Even given the age of the building it was still much sounder that a lot of homes and especially mobile homes. I know the faculty threw themselves on top of children to protect them.
@JGaddyEMA I’m not sure how many of us were left in the school when the tornado struck. I know I was moved to a much safer place in the school later that morning once enough kids had checked out. I’m not sure where I would have been had we been dismissed but I would not have been home.
@JGaddyEMA With regards to enterprise, the age of the students definitely came into play. None of us were thinking about going home and sheltering. We were supposed to get out some time after 1pm and had not had lunch. All we were talking about was where we would go eat.
My favorite part of the night was when @JayThompsonAUT reflected on the recent tornadoes and how counties work together to clean up by saying “we used to know where the county line is… now, we don’t see the county line.” #67counties#onevoice
@grubmart @ScottButtram@GovernorKayIvey California doubled their gas tax about 6 years back. Then went back and reduced it. We are still almost at the bottom for taxes. Let’s not act like a increase every 30 years is going to turn us into California. It’s not a percent like income and property tax.
