For the first time, I held a meeting in a five-party format with the leaders of NATO’s Indo-Pacific partner countries.
We discussed the rapidly changing situation in the Indo-Pacific region, emphasizing the need for unity and coherence in security matters.
I stressed that, in the face of relentless Russian attacks, Ukraine urgently needs to bolster its air defenses with additional air defense and electronic warfare systems.
I am grateful to our partners for their unwavering solidarity and support for Ukraine in its fight against Russian aggression.
I also thank Australia and New Zealand for their announced defense packages. We appreciate this crucial assistance for our country and our people.
Excellent @WarInstitute analysis of the urban war zone of Gaza - extensive tunnels, ammunition stores & Hamas use of lawfare (human shields) as MO, and the lessons from Baghdad, Mosul - and of course Stalingrad. #IsraelAtWar https://t.co/thYLmRSrm6.
I argue that supporting the Jewish identity of Israel should be no more, or less, important for Australia than protection of the rights of Palestinians; and demonstrating and upholding our respect for international law. 1/3 https://t.co/TKCzWA0Oae

Been thinking about #Teixeria's fast arrest in the #IntelligenceLeak case and how it showcases the changing nature and rising power of open-source intel. A thread.
In WW2 the US provided more than 7000 tanks to the USSR - around 20% of their armoured capability. Then there’s the 13,000+ aircraft, c. 350,000 trucks and 80,000 jeeps. That’s a lot to forget.

I have been getting questions about the impact of @RussiaUN taking the presidency of the #UNSC for April.
Here is what I have been saying.
I told @julianborger "a lot of council members really want to avoid getting caught up in big power games" (1/x) 👇 https://t.co/qBQnQpsoIb
A challenge for our times: how to explain the UNSC when Russia was president on its invasion of Ukraine & now resumes a month-long presidency a year on? “Today Russia begins to chair the UN Security Council & it's a proof of the bankruptcy of procedures in world institutions.”
Yesterday 🇷🇺 army killed 🇺🇦 5-month-old boy, his parents were wounded. It's one of the hundreds of artillery strikes the terrorist state launches daily. Today Russia begins to chair the UN Security Council & it's a proof of the bankruptcy of procedures in world institutions.
Done deal. The Turkish Parliament just unanimously voted in favor for the ratification of Finland's accession to NATO. All 30 countries have ratified it and accession to the alliance will now be finalized by the US State Department and Helsinki.
Congratulations Finland.
Today #AusNavy farewells RADM James Goldrick (Retd) who has sadly passed away. He was a dear friend, mentor & shipmate, who will be remembered with great respect & affection. A true Officer & a gentleman; who commanded with distinction. My thoughts are with the Goldrick family.
I reflected tonight with Phillip Adams on issues including Iraq, King Hussein, the Muslim Brotherhood and the demise of the two state solution to the Israeli Palestinian conflict. The last is rather colourful. My segment begins around minute 28. https://t.co/IqOspR68Se

@LowyInstitute Asia Power Index is out - providing structured analysis around the otherwise slippery concept of ‘influence’. The big takeaways? US still by far the most influential state in the region, PRC influenced many economic, & Aust more influential than might be expected.
