@zettieray@DougWahl1 The act of releasing balloons is basically letting trash fly everywhere to be eaten by marine wildlife and birds. Balloons end up in very remote wilderness areas. Metal balloons spark fires and outages when they hit powerlines, it’s a complete waste of helium, a finite resource.
@LadyBleach@DougWahl1@sloyoroll01973 Huge well documented problem for wildlife, particularly marine wildlife, for sparking wildfires and power outages from metal balloons hitting powerlines, just generally blowing trash everywhere. There is a vast amount of evidence that this is a bad idea.
@mikecinnh@factpostnews@grok How many acres that burned were federal lands in national forests? Because 45% of CA is federal and much of that is forest. Blaming Newsom for that while ignoring climate change, poor federal management, etc. is just dumb and tells me you don’t know anything about how things work
@peter_adderton@biggityben@bwealand Trump only celebrates himself. He doesn’t give a shit about our history or anything but himself. Only a small fraction of the country actually agrees with with him about this focus.
@MichaelWWara Every time I’ve ever driven through there it’s always a little bit on fire, they just shoot off a lot of ordinance in various places and things well, they just burn! So I don’t think there’s a lot of fuel built-up.
@DavidLandrum6@GovPressOffice I asked you to explain it to me and you did? I’m not complaining. I’m telling you what the general public knows from looking at inciweb and trying to make sense of what the governor said?
