Last week’s performance at the Chicago Symphony Center was truly beautiful, and this photo captured a special moment for our students. The Joliet Central and Joliet West bands, along with the Joliet American Legion Band, performed with incredible talent, pride, and artistry on one of the country’s most prestigious stages. It was a wonderful celebration of hard work and collaboration, and our musicians represented Joliet Central and Joliet West beautifully. We are proud of everyone who took part in such a memorable performance. #JTAchievesTogether

A special sendoff was held to celebrate the Joliet Central High School speech team advancing in two events to the state finals for the first time in school history, marking a milestone achievement for the program. The historic state qualifications represent only part of a groundbreaking season filled with firsts at both the school and district levels. Freshman Coriana Kelly made district history by becoming the first freshman to win both regional and sectional championships in the same season, the first to claim those titles in two events in a single season, and the first to qualify for the state finals in two events in the same year. Additionally, junior Ayanna Jackson made Central history by becoming the first student to qualify for the state finals twice. Jackson accomplished the feat in back-to-back years, during her sophomore and junior seasons, her first two years on the speech team. The team will depart Friday for the state finals, where Kelly and Jackson will represent Joliet Central High School on the state stage. The head speech coach is Joe Hoyt. Congratulations and go Steelmen!

On September 8th, Joliet Central High School’s Army JROTC cadets placed nearly 3,000 American flags outside the school to honor the victims of the 2001 terrorist attacks. Each flag represented a life lost in New York, Washington, D.C., and Pennsylvania. The display serves as a solemn reminder for students, staff, and community members of the tragedy and the heroism of first responders and service members. The tribute has become an annual tradition for the JROTC program, reflecting its commitment to leadership, discipline, and service. #JTAchievesTogether #SteelmenPride
