Johnston now has eight students qualified in five events for the National Speech and Debate Tournament, June 14-19 in Richmond, Virginia!
Two qualified today at a national qualifying tournament for congressional debate at Roosevelt High School:
—Satya Thavanesh Yalla placed 3rd in the House and qualified for nationals
—Paxton Myers is the district champion in the House and qualified for nationals.
—Also, for the second year in a row, Johnston was the winner of Sweepstakes award for congressional debate.

This year’s National History Day district competition was a huge success, with Johnston students advancing to state in every division we entered. Nineteen Summit, JMS and JHS students presented 14 projects and came home with 16 state qualifiers who will advance to the National History Day state contest, April 27 at Iowa State University. Never wanted this season to end but it couldn’t have been a better ending for our senior class - 3 🏆, 1 🥈, 79 straight wins, & a record of 103-2. I appreciate everything they have done for our program. They might not wear the uni anymore but they are Dragons for life!!
Johnston girls bowling team members Harper Veigel, Lulu Barsness, Maddie Dirsksen, Adella Junk, Naomi Anderson and Mia Thompson placed 2nd🥈 at the Lincoln Girls JV Baker Invite today. Their highest baker game was a season best of 166. They had so much fun! 🎳
Several Johnston students participated at the Summer Games State Special Olympics track meet in Ames! Students from all across the district competed and had tons of fun! Multiple students also came home with first place and podium finishes, which is always a plus.🏆 Way to go, Dragons!💜
Our Dragons came to compete tonight at the district track meet in Marshalltown! We fought through the wind and heat, crushed it on the track, and brought home 3rd place! Tons of events punched their ticket to STATE! 💥🔥 Stay tuned for results—we are so proud of our girls💜💛💜💛

Six Beaver Creek Students participated in the Special Olympics spring Track and Field Event today! They competed in the 50 meter dash and softball throw.🏃♀️🏃♂️🥎Five of the students qualified for the State Meet in May! Fellow BC students welcomed participating students back to school with signs and cheers. What a fun day!
