Before the internet, your access to information was your local library or university. Now, everyone in the world gets the same wikipedia and google.
Crypto's promise is to do the same thing for finance. Instead of having to take your local bank's rate, you should be able to borrow from or lend at the best global rates. Instead of taking your local broker's coverage set as the constraint set, you should get access to global opportunities.
The value prop is clear; time to grow.
Many finance companies hold virtual monopolies that have been unchallenged for decades. The reality is that it is quite difficult for newcomers to take the mantle.
Crypto offers builders a unique angle of attack to disrupt - by tapping into a unique, wealthy, influential, coordinated group of passionate users. It is not easy, but the reward is also massive.
The challenge should never be trivialized, but neither should be the opportunity.

Mini-update on Formal Verification of Monad by @category_xyz :
"Our goal is to formally verify the implementation of the Monad blockchain. Toward that goal, we have made significant progress."

To clarify, the Monad network is not affected and is operating normally
Security researchers in their review have determined that ~$816,000 appears to have been stolen as a result of this exploit of @EchoProtocol_ 's eBTC
I wrote safety critical industrial code in the past, and the rhythm felt about the same as writing perfect DeFi code. Correctness is hard work anywhere.
I think the biggest difference on the EVM is the constant resource constraints. The solidity compiler is inefficient, but most of the real constraints are from the EVM design and that the most basic operations on ethereum during it's heyday were so brutally expensive that you were forced to design for both correctness and simultaneously do stunts for gas efficiency.
You can't currently hand an average programmer solidity+evm+ethereum and not have critical bugs as the output. Now that may be true for most critical systems, but there are bug classes that could be removed at the compiler level and we should do this.
A month ago I realized that everything I took as concrete - Solidity, the EVM, how the blockchain works - could actually be changed. My biggest personal pain in solidity/evm was contract size limitations, so yesterday I worked on a Solidity PR that makes a 3% reduction in bytecode size.
At every Blitz we do in Turkiye, I see better projects.
The winner, Troia, solved a real problem: Troy cards being unusable abroad. Nothing like this exists right now.
The runner up implemented a dare-like running app.
And the third project solved a problem businesses had.
If you are ever in an hackathon, the first thing to keep in mind is the SCOPE. All of the winners were nicely scoped.

Monad v0.14.3 has been released for mainnet.
This version is the first time that nodes are required to use Authenticated UDP for RaptorCast.
Authenticated UDP is an improvement that significantly reduces overhead of verifying consensus messages; it was rolled out a few months ago in optional mode to give the network time to switch over. You can read more about Authenticated UDP here:
https://t.co/wyOI7NP1Ja
This release also makes changes to allow full nodes to participate in reputation scoring, and does some preparatory work for Deterministic RaptorCast.
Full changelog linked in the next post.
