@AndreaVeira5@KShellomane@cheeko268@kenkrissy@ArithaJoseph As teachers with experience and training, we should be appraised on a regular basis. Appraisals should be ongoing throughout the term to foster growth and professional development. So at least once a term. It should be likened to a progress video, not a random picture.
This programme lasts for 5 years and students specialize in one area. This allows the teacher to develop their skills and competences in a specific area as opposed to doing few courses in their interest.
Teaching, like
medicine, is a profession of practice, prospective teachers must be prepared to become expert
practitioners who advance student learning
and build their professional knowledge
through practice. (National Council
for Accreditation of Teacher Education, 2010)
@cheeko268 The learner-centered approach has been an interesting one to use. When we see children actively learn it encourages us to create those experiences for our students. Keep it up!
@Kentie2179@kenkrissy@cheeko268@KShellomane@ArithaJoseph@AndreaVeira5 I can see our learning styles playing an influence in how we teach. It may also be the preferred way of teaching for some. For me, I am a visual learner and I try to ensure that I use visual aids in my teaching.
The clinical model as an approach to teacher preparation appears to be one which will enable the teacher to have enough practice before going through the practicum phase and ultimately into the classroom on their own. @Kentie2179@kenkrissy@cheeko268@ArithaJoseph@KShellomane
@cheeko268@AndreaVeira5 I see why you would use demonstrations or modelling. Maybe the "I do, We do, You do" approach can be used as well to include opportunities for them to work with each other before working on their own.
#EDTE3404_2 The hybrid teaching style is used most often in my classroom. It keeps students active and engaged, and since this style strikes a balance between teacher-centered and student-centered approaches content is covered easier. The drawback is, a lot of energy is needed.
@ArithaJoseph@KShellomane Whenever I think of scaffolding I imagine someone helping another person to move from unknown to known. It really is beneficial to students and helps us to differentiate lessons for our students.
#EDTE3404TEACHINGSTRAT One of my favorite teaching strategy is gamification as a whole class and with individual students. This strategy meets the needs of the differently-abled students I am required to teach at the grade 5 level presently.
@KShellomane During the pandemic this became a staple in my online classes. My students knew that they would come across a game at some point in the topic. It not only helped them learn but it also helped me to assess my students.
I use cooperative learning as a teaching strategy in my classroom. This allows students to work together to solve problems in creative ways and learn how to work effectively as a team. #EDTE3404_2I
