"To the Christian, the Bible is not just a holy book to be placed on the shelf. It is a mighty weapon to be taken hold of with both hands and used in defeating the enemy." —Billy Graham
As we celebrate Independence Day and thank God for the freedoms and blessings we enjoy, BillyGraham’s message remains as relevant as ever: America’s deepest need is a humble dependence on God.
As the United States of America marks the 250th anniversary of our nation’s founding, we have much to be grateful for—but also much to reflect upon. Billy Graham challenged Americans to examine the “stitches” of sin and brokenness that still exist in our nation and reminded us of God’s promise in 2 Chronicles 7:14: “If My people who are called by My name will humble themselves, and pray and seek My face, and turn from their wicked ways, then I will hear from heaven, and will forgive their sin and heal their land.”
This Fourth of July, as we celebrate God’s faithfulness to our country, may we thank Him for His goodness, seek His forgiveness, and pray for His continued guidance, wisdom and favor for America.
“Not only do many not know God, but those who do rarely listen to His voice. It is a tragedy that many of God’s people have conformed themselves to the world and its thinking, rather that being transformed by the renewing of their minds.” —Billy Graham
"It wasn't the vicious spikes that held Christ to the cross—it was the unbreakable cords of God's love that bound Him there. For you! For me! He bore our sins in His body upon the cross." —Billy Graham
Prayer for the day: Lord Jesus, keep us ever mindful of the need to rejoice in You constantly; to go beyond the circumstance, no matter how desperate, and to see You as our hope and joy.
"The Bible teaches that Heaven is a home which is beautiful beyond every imagination. Heaven could not help but be so, because God is a God of beauty." —Billy Graham
