Two countries technically at war since 1948 just signed a document saying they have no hostile intent toward each other and committed to direct negotiations for a comprehensive peace.

The statement is also a roadmap for Hezbollah's end as a military force.

"Dismantlement of non-state armed groups and the prevention of their re-emergence" is written into the framework, with Rubio's line that Hezbollah is "an enemy of Lebanon" elevated into the official text.

The LAF replaces Hezbollah in the south, with American support.

That's the disarmament-through-sovereignty model, exactly the path that avoids Israel doing it by force.

One line is aimed directly at Tehran: any agreement "must be reached directly between the two governments, brokered by the United States, and not through any separate track."

Put simply: Iran doesn't get a vote on Lebanon anymore.

The question now is whether Hezbollah accepts being negotiated out of existence.

And whether Iran signs the Strait deal after watching its biggest card get taken off the table...
