It is working in Canada. When the universities and colleges were busted for human trafficking of 3rd world invaders and they were no longer allowed to do that, many migrants left. It bought the prices of housing down. Canada has a long way to go still, but it helped. Liberal government is bailing out developers who were building condos for the human traffickers, that now set empty.That is not helping to bring the housing cost down, but it is causing a civilian rage against the government.

Total wages for American citizens would go up, and that might eventually (there is a lag) drive higher prices for the things Americans would buy with more money.
