@YSLRNUFC Don't be a ****. He never played Big Nick in defensive midfield. He played him in an advanced 8/10 role. Get you weren't a fan but doesn't justify talking b******s.
@RubyQNUFC Ruby, it's not a PIF issue. They have reacted, late, slow and perhaps not very creatively to the PL PSR and UEFA SCR rules that have and now constrict our development.
We can't spend more on transfers than we raise and therefore have to sell. That isn't what Howe signed up for.
@MiddleMatthew@Nufcoutsider If you're arguing that even when in position our defensive resilience was poor and our wingers weren't that lethal so we should move to 532 I'd say fair play.
@MiddleMatthew@Nufcoutsider If you're arguing that Howe is trying to play an attacking front foot style that his squad either can't execute or convert and that leaves us exposed to counters, I'd agree. A certain Mr Keegan may not though.
@MiddleMatthew@Nufcoutsider I don't dispute that and that's a fair argument. But arguing that 433 is a regressive, passé form of football and using it to propagate a view about a manager is nonsense.
@NUFCcook This is absolutely right. Trippier orchestrated the right hand side and the back 4. None of the 1st choice back 4 do that. That's what helps get most out of Miggy, Murphy etc. Not enough talkers in the side now.
@Nufcoutsider@MiddleMatthew Midfield getting passed through isn't about the structure it's about positional discipline or culture. If the 6 in a V sits then the defence gets some cover. If the culture is a gung-ho 'all out attack' then no cover for back 4. Same structure diff results.
@MiddleMatthew Right, so PSR/ SCR rules aren't to blame?
PIF presumably stopped spending money on our squad rebuild not because they realised we were going to break the rules but because they'd decided Eddie was uninspiring?
@Nufcoutsider@MiddleMatthew Plenty of sides at International, UCL and PL level playing 433. This is such a tired and lazy trope. It's not even accurate. Listen to the Dan Burn High Performers podcast to understand how fluid the formation is depending on whether in/ out of possession or where on pitch.
@chris_armin I think that Isak's departure had an effect on squad morale. Gordon publicly supportive, Bruno & Tripps apparently apoplectic. Tonali poor after his wife gave birth. Sometimes stuff goes on in players lives etc that means they don't bring their best self to the team.
@NostalgicNUFC I agree wholeheartedly. And I don't understand why the wages need be a barrier. The fact he'd be acquired on a free gives loads of headroom from a cost perspective and protection from a wage structure pov. Think it would be a really good bit of business. Project 2.0's Trippier
@JD_NE9 Worth remembering, as Isak, Tonali, Gordon and Bruno leave us that this isn't the project Eddie signed up for either. But he's sticking around to try to make it work.
Let's stop bitching and get behind him and the team. There's a clue in the name. Supporters.
