Dr. @afrah_alzouba chaired in Washington a meeting of the government delegation with the @WorldBankGroup VP for the Middle East and North Africa, @ousmanedione.

During the meeting, which brought together Minister of Finance Marwan bin Ghanem, Minister of Water and Environment Eng. Tawfiq Al-Sharjabi, Central Bank Governor @AAGhaleb, Dr. Al-Zouba presented a summary of the intensive engagements conducted by the government delegation over the past week, affirming that Yemen remains committed to its reform trajectory despite exceptional challenges.

She noted that the government is in the process of preparing the National Development Plan and will share its concept note with the World Bank for joint development.

واستعرضت الزوبة، خلال الاجتماع الذي ضمَّ وزير المالية مروان بن غانم، ووزير المياه والبيئة المهندس توفيق الشرجبي، ومحافظ البنك المركزي اليمني أحمد غالب، وفريق البنك الدولي ومؤسسة التمويل الدولية، خلاصة المباحثات المكثفة التي أجراها الوفد الحكومي خلال الأسبوع، مؤكدةً أن اليمن يمضي في مسار الإصلاح رغم التحديات الاستثنائية.

وأشارت وزيرة التخطيط إلى أن الحكومة تعمل على إعداد خطة التنمية الوطنية، وستُشارك مذكرتها المفاهيمية مع البنك الدولي لتطويرها بشراكة مشتركة..داعيةً إلى إدراج اليمن في مبادرة المياه العالمية للبنك الدولي، باعتباره من أكثر الدول تأثراً بأزمة المياه.

I joined the Minister of Local Administration, Badr Basalama, in a meeting in Washington, with the team of the @WorldBankGroup to discuss support for empowering local authorities and strengthening relations between the central government and Yemeni governorates.

The Minister Basalama and I emphasized the importance of this file as a key pillar for recovery and building effective institutions.

We agreed to enhance coordination, establish a joint technical team, and work with the World Bank as a strategic partner providing technical support.

Dr. @afrah_alzouba participated in the meeting of @WorldBankGroup Governors for the Middle East and North Africa region, in Washington, to discuss the implications of the ongoing regional crisis and the World Bank's operational response.

In her remarks, Dr. Alzouba highlighted the serious humanitarian and economic repercussions of the regional crisis on Yemen, which remains among the most affected countries and the least able to absorb shocks after more than a decade of conflict.

بحثت وزيرة التخطيط والتعاون الدولي، محافظة اليمن لدى مجموعة البنك الدولي، الدكتورة @afrah_alzouba، في العاصمة واشنطن، مع فريق البنك الدولي، سُبل دعم جهود الحكومة اليمنية في تمكين السلطة المحلية، وتطوير العلاقة بين الحكومة المركزية والسلطات المحلية.

وأشارت الدكتورة الزوبة، إلى أهمية هذا الملف بوصفه ركيزة أساسية من ركائز التعافي والاستقرار والتنمية في البلاد، مشددةً على أن تمكين السلطة المحلية يمثل جزءاً من بناء عقد اجتماعي جديد بين الدولة والمواطن، وتعزيز جاهزية المؤسسات الوطنية.

واستعرض في الاجتماع، عبر الاتصال المرئي، وزير الإدارة المحلية، بدر باسلمة، رؤية الحكومة لتعزيز العلاقة بين المركز والمحافظات، ومسار تمكين السلطات المحلية في تقديم الخدمات والتنمية الاقتصادية المحلية، والتحضير لمؤتمر دولي مرتقب في يونيو المقبل يجمع الأطراف المعنية.

Dr. @afrah_alzouba and Minister of Finance Marwan Faraj bin Ghanem held a meeting in Washington with @NickDyerFCDO, Second Permanent Under-Secretary at @FCDOGovUK, to discuss ways to strengthen the partnership between Yemen and the UK in the development and economic sectors.
