🤖💚 Android Platform is moving to Bazel!
We're excited to announce that the Android Open Source Project (AOSP) is migrating from its current build systems to Bazel.

@donclark I spoke to some folks on the kernel team, and it's not trivial. It's not like a standard Linux distro where all the drivers can be packed into an initramfs and selected at runtime. From my experience in this space, I'd bet that it's possible but isn't an area we've explored.
I'm loving this difference in Open Source communities. It's not that long ago that I remember having to put on the metaphorical asbestos underwear to participate because of the flame wars. I'm glad we're part of this wave of change.
Google recently published a page called "Coding with Respect" for AOSP contributors to know what terms are deemed derogatory and what alternative terms are suggested.

Hey Twitter - here's what's happening now behind the scenes of our Android 11 AMA.
It turns out it takes a bunch of us to handle random questions across the entire platform.

@RonAmadeo Those are hardware ASan builds. They build less frequently because they're slower (so, "throttled")

(for others: curious about ASan? https://t.co/na5GU2sVCU)
@MishaalRahman@xdadevelopers It's not right now, but it's something I'd love to see. Right now we're putting these tools out there (ci, cs, flash) to make upstreaming patches to AOSP easier. More to come!
🔦 Flash an AOSP build without having to build and flash manually! You can now do so directly from the browser with the newly released Android Flash Tool.
