@naman34@kenneth_skovhus@suevalov@emilwidlund@polar_sh@linear And yes, somewhat extreme, but it makes it so the consumer of those components doesn't have to worry about tracking child elements for it to display as intended, which is something I do value a lot in my styling solution. 😅
@naman34@kenneth_skovhus@suevalov@emilwidlund@polar_sh@linear Here's a good example where I really like the declarative part of CSS - is this possible to do with Stylex? Basically, it applies styles to a child component based on the presence of other child components.
@naman34@kenneth_skovhus@suevalov@emilwidlund@polar_sh@linear So how do you handle the case where a parent component wants to apply styling based on the presence of a child component? (Where parent and child components are part of the same file, imagine a `<Menu>` and `<MenuItem>`) and you don't want the consumer to worry about style props?
@kenneth_skovhus@suevalov@emilwidlund@polar_sh@linear Interesting regarding performance. I woulda thought the native CSS pipeline would pretty much always be more performant than whatever equivalent we'd do in JS. What are some examples of this (it sounds like you've measured it already)?
@suevalov@emilwidlund@polar_sh@linear We've been using CSS Modules mainly because CSS has gotten really good, lots of nice selectors that keep the styling in CSS rather than needing JS logic to track stuff (:last-child, :has, :not, etc) - how do you guys tackle that with Stylex?
@Kyle_Sielaff@IsaacAzout Well now I feel like an ass for yelling at the screen like "WHAT DO YOU MEAN THAT 'LOOKED LIKE A STRIKE'?? THAT WAS CLEARLY A STRIKE KYLE!!!" 😂
@pacificdaemon@vimtor Read-your-own-writes is pretty easy though. You can include the last seen event ID on the projection, then poll it until its caught up. 99% of the time, projector is so fast that by the first query its already caught up.
