Everyone who served honorably should be proud of there service it’s a very small percentage of our population that actually served and they are trying to take benefits a way from us Veterans. We need to not bash others veterans for there service I know guys that feel guilty because they did not deploy for no fault of there own they were willing. I think there are more people scamming the system than veterans. I am proud of my service I did two deployments to Iraq in 2003 and 2008/2009 mine was an outside the wire job but it took everyone for me to do my job. So sorry if you feel like your service is better than other people but realize it takes the entire military to project combat power.
I really don’t think there should be a class of veterans some have done more some have done less yes combat is difficult but that is why there is specific awards for combat and the title combat veteran that denotes that service. So what about a guy who blows his knee out in training and never had the opportunity to deploy is his service less than and they don’t deserve compensation. So then you can argue you are not a veteran if you never left the wire most service members never see actual combat.
@Jeff14888@infantrydort You are completely wrong about the plates and the holiday but thing what ever you want I know you are not even a veteran so to me your opinion does not even matter
Yes most people who served in the military call themselves veterans. If you served and don’t want to call yourself a veteran because you did not deploy that’s cool but by law anyone who served has the right to call themselves veterans. They are a veteran of the military. So the soldiers who stand watch on the DMZ in Korea are not veterans because they were not in combat. I belong to several veteran organizations and yes people who never went to war still call themselves veterans.
according to 38 U.S. Code § 101, a veteran is a person who served in the active military, naval, air, or space service, and who was discharged or released under conditions other than dishonorable. So could congress has defined what a veteran is. They are a veteran of the armed forces of the United States
Yes if you served in the armed forces of the United States you are a veteran. I would argue if you never graduated basic training then you are not a veteran. But could still be eligible for benefits if got hurt during basic. Remember it’s against the law not to follow orders and you can not sue.
BTC ~$83.5k after a Monday dip from Sunday's ~$85k tag. High ~$85.0k / low ~$82.6k. Iran headlines shook risk overnight, but last week's ~$2.4B spot ETF inflows (Fri still +$134M, 7th straight) are the real bid. Watching $83k hold.
So this guy you know did you go through his medical records and his service treatment records? Because the VA did and got a medical opinion to see if his condition is service connected. If this “guy” lied then that is fraud put him in jail. no matter the job or if they deployed has no bearing on VA compensation. So sorry if you feel you did more than he did. But the law is clear if you are injured during service you are entitled to compensation regardless of what you did or did not do.
Why would it chip at your soul. As long as you tell the truth and have medical conditions caused by service it is literally part of the contract you signed because you can’t sue the government for the harm they caused you this is the process to get compensation for it. Any employer who exposes there employees to all the toxic chemicals and harmful environment would have gotten sued and lost. If you feel like you don’t deserve it that’s up to you but my military service has left me broken and in constant pain.
