Clyde Drexler spent 11 1/2 seasons with @trailblazers, the first 11 of them with Rick Adelman, first as an assistant under Jack Ramsay, then as head coach. Clyde on Rick:
"A good man gone too soon. The ultimate gentlemen. He was kind, he was smart, he was just a phenomenal coach. He would put you in the best possible position to succeed. He was a players’ coach. Everyone loved playing for him because he had played in the NBA. Everyone should be lucky enough to be coached by Rick Adelman."

A great man and a great friend. This makes me so sad. He led a great family and I'm praying for them. He was So devoted to them and especially to his wife, Mary Kay, a beautiful person.
MLBPA interim exec director Bruce Meyer holds up the Padres as the example for all teams: "We want to encourage more San Diego's. San Diego is a small market team that went out, decided to compete, signed a lot of players. Turned around their franchise...they are successful. They've grown attendance, they've grown interest, and we've all seen the explosion of their franchise value."
I have indeed been let go after 18+ years with the @trailblazers. My sincerest thanks to all of you who have read/listened/watched/engaged with my work over the years.
Fun Q and A between @tysonalger and @latimes columnist @MirjamSwanson. So many combined hours of passionate sportswriting chats with them over the years (h/t @DailyEmerald). Mirjam hasn't changed her outlook on writing about sports people: “It’s the best.” https://t.co/IcTi7iXgax

"The team walking away from this weekend is probably more confident than they’ve ever been, and very disappointed in the results. I think that puts a bow on it.”
From Westwood, where Oregon learned just how close it is.

Thoughts about Tony Gwynn today on what would have been his 66th birthday got me thinking about his sweet swing — on a golf course in Iowa. @Padres@AztecBaseball https://t.co/LCkboUlF5M
