@TheJupitersays @churchofengland Agree this is a poor choice of image. But almost certainly it’s been created by a junior person in the digital comms team, doing his/her best, not always getting it right. Worth remembering before we all pile in. A few years ago there would’ve been no prayer for students at all.
Brilliant from Darren the doorman speaking on LBC - “I have culture, I have colour, I have learnt things from around the world. They’ve enriched my life and my community”.

It is with great sadness that I have to share the news that Canon Gary Philbrick died this afternoon after a short illness. Gary was very greatly loved in the Diocese of Winchester and will be very greatly missed. Please do pray for Craig his son, and all his family.
@CraigPhilbrick So sorry Craig, how worrying. Gary is everyone’s favourite person so there will be lots of people praying for him in the diocese! 🙏🙏🙏 Hope you are okay too.
Big shoes to fill! Loved working with Paul over the years, trying to keep up with his huge intellect & encyclopaedic knowledge of the CofE. To be added to the job description: the candidate needs to be able to tell jokes in Latin and tend to office plants like their own children
Paul Handley, the editor of the Church Times since 1995, has announced that he is to retire at the end of September.
Mr Handley, who will be 66 later this month, started working for the Church Times in 1988 as a reporter, and went on to be news editor

This was me 15 mins before today’s service. By 10am we were standing room only. Such a warm and open congregation, mostly non-regulars, nodding away to my fairly mediocre sermon. Parish ministry is such a privilege. And God is good all the time.🌲❤️
Much joy and hilarity at my 5-yr-old daughter’s fact file on “Jeezoz” (which she devised apropos of nothing!):
JEEZOZ
- Chrismis is his barfday
- He is the sunofgod
- his fis job wos a carpenter
- He is in the bibl
- Hee is my frend
- He worc on worter
The most touching moment of my 40th was receiving this photo and newspaper clipping - my formidable granny, who was a lifelong CND campaigner & at the Greenham Common peace camp, heralding my arrival in the @guardian as “new stimulus for our campaign against nuclear missiles”. 💪
I am 40 today and to mark this midlife milestone I am running the Clarendon Way marathon this weekend raising money for @childrensociety with my dearest @Robert_Rees28. There’s still time to sponsor us - thank you for your support! 😍 https://t.co/bcRxR55hRs
Wonderful and historic news for York and for people of faith in this city.
Looking forward to working with Rabbi Elisheva.

Some pals and I are running the Clarendon Way trail marathon for @thechildrenssociety in September - would love if you could sponsor us!
And any Winchester friends, let me know if you fancy doing some of it with me 💪🏃♀️
