I couldn't sleep last night. One thought would not leave me alone: How much more is America expected to take?

One day we were mourning Charlie Kirk. The next, we were marking 25 years since September 11th.

I watched the memorials. I listened to the 9/11 calls. I read the transcript of Todd Beamer's final words — "Let's roll." It shook me to my core. Those passengers knew what was happening, and they still found the courage to fight back.

Then I looked at America today and asked, what happened to that spirit?

My mother used to say, "Americans are quiet until we are no longer quiet." I could hear her saying it again last night.

Americans want to be left alone. We want to raise our families, practice our faith, live freely, and mind our own business. But we are not being left alone anymore — and Americans are angry.

Twenty-five years after we were attacked, we still have people standing on American soil chanting "Death to America" — protected by the First Amendment of the very country they say they despise. They use our freedoms to call for the end of our freedoms.

Most Americans hear that chant and take it seriously. We know what it means.

The frustration is with the loud voices who keep making excuses for it. The voices that treat borders as cruelty, enforcement as oppression, and anyone who wants to come here as automatically entitled to stay. They will defend the people chanting against America, and attack the Americans who say, "enough."

Let's be honest. The people chanting for America's destruction are telling us who they are. They are not here because they love this country or want to become part of it. They want to change it into something it has never been.

We have also raised a generation on screens. Friendships on phones. Dating on phones. Learning about the world through 30-second clips fed by an algorithm. Then outrage gives them a cause and a crowd. Many can't even explain what they're protesting — they just know their feed told them America is the problem.

Meanwhile, look at what America has actually done.

We crossed an ocean in World War I. We defeated fascism in World War II. We froze in Korea so South Korea could stay free. We fought in Vietnam. We drove Saddam out of Kuwait. We helped stop ethnic cleansing in Bosnia and Kosovo. We went into Afghanistan after 9/11. You can argue about the politicians who ordered those wars, but American men and women still went — thousands of miles from home — believing they were defending freedom for people they never met. Many never came home.

We have liberated, rebuilt, welcomed, forgiven, and given more than our critics will ever admit.

Our kindness has been mistaken for weakness.

Do they really think Americans will quietly watch our freedom, our faith, and our way of life be torn down?

They are about to learn what my mother knew.

Americans are quiet until we are no longer quiet.

And we are no longer quiet.
