Despite the implementation of Title IX there is still a big difference between males and females in sports. Women still have to put in more effort to get the same recognition which is why I wanted to show some women in sports that have broken that barrier. #UCR50@KatryaLy
#UCR50@KatryaLy this chapter went over the idea that because of athletes packed schedule they end up studying with other athletes. Which in turn may lead them to struggle with their grades because if they miss a class for an away game they are all missing it.
As an outsider looking in some things that need to be taken into consideration when deciding if college athletes should get paid would be that they take the brunt of the work. They have to dedicate so much of their time often not focusing on their mental health. @KatryaLy#ucr50
@izyyybel01 I also find it interesting how the coaches get all the benefits for the work the athletes put in especially since they do not get the same compensation. #UCR50@KatryaLy
Student athletes have to balance their education and their sport. It can be questioned whether one is more important than the other especially in terms of their future. Not everyone will be able to go pro so does this ultimately affect them in college? #UCR50@TA_Ed50
It is interesting to think that as a college student you are paying for your education and majority of the money the school gets is being spent on the athletic department. @KatryaLy#UCR50
@HungryHoang I had never thought about it in the coaches perspective until this assignment. Always knew students worried about their grades so they could play but the coaches also rely on the top players being able to play in order to win their games. #UCR50@TA_ED50
