What an utter shitshow @thetrainline - apparently I’m expected to time travel back after arriving in Newport to then get the train to Hereford. Now having to either shell out £80 for an Uber or wait until 00:53 to get the next train.
I’ve never really looked into Prima Facie before because I thought it might be a bit of a busman’s holiday, but I got a ticket on a whim this morning so let’s see what it’s all about!
So it turns out there’s another barrister with my surname. Bearing in mind I’ve never met another Jennett in my life, save for family. We’ve had a really fascinating discussion about lineage and trying to see if there’s a link - the bar really is a small, small world
I hate how modern left-wing politics (or so-called) is completely consumed by Israel and Gaza. The sheer amount of energy and obsession poured into it is absurd. They couldn’t care less about the conditions of the working-class in this country.
I had a wonderful time at the MTYBA dinner last night - Lord Lloyd Jones gave such a wonderful speech (as he always does, having met him a few times over the years now. His commitment to the future of the bar is unmatched), and the food and company were great
Taking my first proper holiday now that pupillage is over, off to Cyprus for 6 days solo, and I indulged a bit and paid for the airport lounge - totally worth it!
We are delighted to announce that Emily Jennett has been offered tenancy at Becket Chambers from 1st Oct 2025.
Since joining as a pupil, Emily has impressed clients and colleagues alike with her professionalism, skill, and dedication.

A student rejected by a university is not and should not be labelled “not good enough”. Ever. The sometimes blunt filter that universities apply may miss the true picture.
I did not even receive an offer from two universities to study law. Am I not good enough?
You may admire Banksy. You may agree with his sentiment. But I am afraid that there is no way that removing an image painted on property without permission can be called censorship.
That’s just a silly thing to say.
For the benefit of all young and aspiring lawyers - this is the height of professional discourtesy.
Never, and I mean never, offer advice to someone you are not instructed by behind instructed counsel’s back, no matter how publicly you do it.
@AdamUpton20 Sorry I didn’t see this sooner! It is going well thank ☺️ I get most of my stuff from Hobbs and M&S - I acknowledge Hobbs can be £££ so vinted and Depop are a shout for finding preloved! Some of my colleagues also swear by H&M, Ted Baker and Next
A dinner party, Natasha refers to Jeremy (another member of their chambers), seemingly implying he is also instructed. Now I can get that Mark may have been leading Natasha, but a THIRD barrister?! Also the fact Mark is minted but practices in human rights
I love Bridget Jones’ diary but there’s one scene that really bugs me. When Mark says he likes Bridget just the way she is Natasha says “Mark we’re making real progress on this case!” Avoiding the obvious ethical dilemma that they were discussing their case at (cont’d)
