Apparently, you shouldn’t put anything on twitter you wouldn’t want your Granny to see?
Let me introduce you to my Grandma: Valerie Cullen! She joined the circus at 17, toured around Europe in the 20s & 30s in a dance troupe & rode through the streets on a horse as Lady Godiva.
I had to register to vote recently and when I had to put my national insurance number in I got my old NI card out. I kept it safe all these year as my mother told me to.
Young people no longer get one of these.
I had my first alcoholic drink at 16. By 26, I was given six months to live
“Your every thought is: ‘Where’s my next drink coming from? Can we afford the next drink? What are we going to get to drink? Where are we going to hide it?’ That’s just on repeat”

Anthony Walker was murdered on July 30, 2005 in a brutal act of racist violence that sent shockwaves throughout the Liverpool city region and beyond. 💔
He was only eighteen years old and was in his second year of A-levels.
In 2006, the @awf_liverpool was established by his family and friends, to tackle racism, hate crime and discrimination, and ensure a powerful legacy for Anthony.
Rest in Eternal Peace Anthony.🙏🏾🕊️
I'm no longer angry with Prof Arday. He's clearly unwell. But the reputational damage to my alma mater—and to black academics, too—is pretty awful. I've been hoodwinked by a fraudster before. The best thing to do is admit you were fooled, not double down in their defence.
I went to see The Odyssey yesterday.
Was it a great movie 🎬? No. Was it a bad movie? No. It was average. My partner however fell asleep 😴
I much preferred a BBC radio 📻 adaptation. Available for free on BBC Sounds: The Odyssey by Homer

Not a single person has been held accountable for their participation in genocide.
Meanwhile, opponents of genocide are sentenced as terrorists.
What kind of dystopian world are we living in? This absurdity must end. De-proscribe Palestine Action, now.
4 women have accused Jared Leto of alleged sexual misconduct & assault that took place when they were teenagers.
The BBC has seen photos & messages that corroborate the women's accounts as well as an NDA that Leto sent one woman.

"My first husband stripped me naked and threw me and my daughters out of the house. Neighbours wrapped me in a quilt and my parents took us away. As I hold this gold medal in Glasgow, my message to every woman in India is to fight back against abuse."

In the Arday scandal, we've heard little from the woman whose PhD was plagiarised
This exposes how power actually operates in UK academia
A female lecturer at a mid-ranking university has so little agency that her case only gains traction when white male professors take it up
After therapy forgotten memories come back to me.
I remember my daddy taking me down to Camden Town every Sunday and seeing the punks.
And every Sunday myself and my sister would've a bubble bath. We would recreate punk hairstyles with our bubbles and my dad used to laugh.
I remember when I came back to live in London in 1986 - from Rhyl, North Wales.
My father took me down Camden Market and I couldn't believe all the punks with their hair. And my father was laughing at my amazement.
@Finola_Kelly_ He spoke about a long train journey (in the USA) where he sat by an empty sit all the way and some people preferred to stand rather than sit next to him.
It reminded of being a school girl in the 1990s, when pupils at my school knew my dad had AIDS. So I sat on a table by myself
I am exhausted from therapy today.
But honestly I'm shocked that an article, written by a White professor, describes another professor of Colour as a "useful idiot" within higher education.
Universities really need to up their unconscious bias education for staff.
@Finola_Kelly_ They hire in their own image.
One of my favourite sociologists is Elijah Anderson.
I had the privilege of having a class with him as a PhD student and then years later hearing him talk at a keynote, where he spoke about: 'White Spaces'.
