If you’re going to write your press release in advance (note the lack of any specifics or numbers) because you knew it was going to be an absolutely massive NO, at least get the date right 🤡#WeAreSTF
Our members have spoken. It's time for @jeremycockrill and @SaskSchoolBoard to finally take this process and these issues seriously, and work with teachers in good faith to address the crisis occurring in Saskatchewan public schools.
#WeAreSTF
@ProfSmithSask Agreed. If it was a tentative agreement the STF would surely indicate that. They didn’t. This is an employer “take it or leave it” final offer. (Last Offer).
@Bookworm9226123 I believe it was a last gasp move by the govt. @LHubich shared this and it makes perfect sense. They hope teachers are tired and will just cave in. More determined than ever now!
If I was a betting man I would put money on a bet that the Moe/Cockrill play in the current bargaining with teachers is invoking this section of the Saskatchewan Employment Act. A supervised vote of the government’s last offer. If so, teachers should reject it.
In case you missed it: In 2023, private schools received a 25% increase of taxpayer funds compared to the previous year.
Public schools received a 2.5% increase.
We set aside two full days to bargain in good faith with the Government-Trustee Bargaining Committee (GTBC).
Today, they didn't even bother to show up.
Our kids deserve better than not showing up.
@PremierScottMoe I was at the table. STF was there, Scott. We cleared two full days to negotiate in good faith. Your team didn’t even enter the building today. Yesterday they wouldn’t start until 1pm, and then had no ability to negotiate. Stop with the lies, as premier you need to do better.
Teachers are on the TBC. They prepared sub plans for their capable but overworked and in-short-supply colleagues, travelled, spent time away from their families and home communities for THIS?!?! Absolutely zero respect for my colleagues and teachers as professionals.
We were there.
Government didn’t give the GTBC
the authority to bargain, just another take it or leave it offer.
After attempting to delay bargaining further, the GTBC didn’t return to the table.
While the President of the STF makes her video from inside the actual bargaining room in Saskatoon, as they wait for the Govt Committee who never returned, the lying Minister of Education makes a video from his office in Regina lying that his people are at the table.
