A3: I think there is an assumption that the way you mean for your words is how it going to be recieved by the listener. Unless it is brought to your attention, you are probably not actively monitoring your language, let alone teaching your students to do the same

A2: Class setup says a lot about how you want your class to run. Students facing each other or in groups as opposed to neat rows facing the board can help get away from school/teacher centered approaches

A1: I think that praise for work well done is important, but can be used sparingly. Also some students need more praise than others, so it is vital that we don't curtail praise across the board.

A4: Emphasis on standardization kills curiosity and promotes conformity, which causes students to disengage. Reducing that emphasis and promoting creativity instead might keep students involved. #USQchat
