I disagree with the premise of this piece that it's a failure of Prop 40 supporters to grow its support. The bigger story is that opponents have spent $300+ million and the thing is still above water.
I voted for Steve Hilton. We need to break the one-party gunion monopoly in California. Try a republican this time.
I voted yes for Prop 39. I think it will stop most corruption in our ballots, but we really should be voting with our phones by now.
I voted no on Prop. 40. It will drive businesses and jobs out of state—also unconstitutional.
I voted yes on 41 and 42. Because capitalism.
I voted no on everything else. Most are just driven by special gunion interests.
To be clear: Some facts are neither in dispute nor unclear. Our photographer was clearly marked as Press. She was clearly beaten. These are not partisan or risible statements, but indisputable. We urge a thorough investigation and accountability.
Super excited about tonight’s Political Breakdown — billionaire @chrislarsensf sat down to talk about AI, why he’s funding surveillance tech in S.F., the #prop40 billionaire tax and the legislative races he’s contributing to. Tune in at 630pm on @KQEDnews
Now we can say it definitively.
Elon Musk donated $158M to SLF.
SLF donated $158M to Texas PAC.
SLF is Texas PAC's only donor.
Elon Musk is singlehandedly funding Texas PAC, which is boosting Ken Paxton.
I want to be clear: I would have preferred not to make this video. I am sharing it to explain my upcoming coverage of the race for California state controller, including my efforts to interview incumbent Malia Cohen (D-CA) and why my candidate interview coverage of this office will feature only her challenger, Herb Morgan (R-CA).
I would have preferred to produce a piece giving both candidates equal time. Those are journalistic values that guide me every day. After weeks of outreach and back-and-forth with Cohen’s team, a Zoom interview was scheduled, then abruptly canceled by her team. I was told she had no availability to reschedule before the election.
Her team said I could submit written questions for Cohen to answer in writing. I respectfully declined because I wanted voters to hear directly from her on camera, with the opportunity for follow-up questions.
I told her team multiple times I wanted to ensure voters heard her side, her priorities, and answer why she deserves a second term in office. I made every effort to make that happen.
Fairness is always my priority. My goal was to give both candidates the same opportunity to discuss their records, answer meaningful and tough questions, and speak directly to voters. I regret that I could not make that happen, but voters deserve transparency about the process.
ICYMI: A "Hail Mary" wealth tax, "carpet-bombed" by billionaire foes faces a narrow path.
Massively outspent, slipping in polls and up against much of California’s Democratic establishment, Proposition 40 is finally in voters' hands. What now?

Billions of dollars’ worth of contracts predicting oil would fall and the S&P 500 would rise were placed about 15 minutes before Trump announced a U-turn on Iran in a post on Truth Social. CFTC staff began to investigate-- then were told to lay off. https://t.co/cpIBv4aSo5
