The sport of baseball is predicated on pitchers attempting to get hitters out. Any time a position player takes the mound and is throwing lob balls is an insult to the sport and any team that does it should be embarrassed and ashamed.
For first time in 45 years a newspaper schedule doesn't have my name on it as of June 1. My call. The profession enabled me to meet my wife and have a family. Everything else pales in comparison, but it was a pretty cool way to make a living . . . thanks for reading . . .
So Giants are sitting Bryce Eldridge against a Dodgers' RHP with a 1-3 record and 5.97 ERA . . . what exactly was the point of bringing him up? Casey Schmitt can play 2B, 3B and even SS if necessary. Devers can DH. And no way Vitello does this without Buster knowing about it.
Giants worst moment tonight wasn't anything that happened on the field. It was when they went to the bullpen and bullpen coach Jesse Chavez and at least one reliever were waving frantically because they had zero idea who was pitching next. Turns bad loss into a clown show.
Maybe it's just a roster shuffle and Trevor McDonald will be back for a Giants start soon, but how do you turn in the best pitching performance of the season on a team playing like crap and get sent back down? Gotta stick up for the McDonalds.
There was a lot to like about Lucas Erceg when he was with the Athletics. That's still the case in Kansas City . . . this is awesome . . . https://t.co/tAboIHEPNx
The latest of endless examples of why people are way over-stressed about the NFL salary cap. A few strokes of the pen, and bean counters can make millions disappear . . . https://t.co/KSaIBCOk0C
In the past five weeks, Trent Williams’ 2026 cap figure has gone from $38.84 million to $46.34 million (after 49ers declined option bonus) to $20.01 million (after new two-year agreement).
The Giants are in the can't win mode. Can't win on the field. And when they call up Bryce Eldridge, they can't win that way either because why in the hell wasn't he on the original roster? Only one way out of this . . . not be embarrassingly awful for a couple of weeks.
Postgame host Bill Laskey (KNBR-680) reasonably navigates the slings and arrows of callers whose patience has run out with the product . . . https://t.co/ciDlLnleVd
