Wondering around, dropping some lore bits. The public trial of Soviet/Ruissian secret services is 34 years overdue. A non-delusional non-US-fixated Libertarian
A brilliant insight into how the Kremlin works by Stephen Kotkin way back in 2016.
Kremlin and Lubyanka continue to exist without any major reform, and the most bizzare thing about current war may be the fact that people like Putin and Patrushev really believe in what they say
@SpaghettiKozak@monsterhunter45 Especially as the plot is famous for both its twists and solid foreshadowings that make those twists seem inevitable in hindsight, and the last book (that was published before Maidan!) ended with multiple plot lines near starting to get resolutions.
@SpaghettiKozak@monsterhunter45 Nowhere near Tolkien on definitiveness, but a very solid series, /w great characters and surprisingly dense layered lore.
It was hyped in fantasy / RP communities even in 00s in Ukraine.
That wide success prevents him from finishing series is not a catastrophe, but still a bummer
@n0tatr33@anatoliisharii I really don’t have enthusiasm for this spectacle of dimwittery and I’m muting this thread.
Good luck to you and have a nice day.
@n0tatr33@anatoliisharii I heard Poles from recovered territories have some problems with Martin Luther and Otto von Bismark.
But who knows, I never heard them speak even of Polish Operation and lionisation of Dzerzhinskiy. All I hear from them is UPA.
@n0tatr33@anatoliisharii Most Eastern European identities include some orgs in their national myths that other consider genocidal.
And non Eastern Europeans too, obviously.
But I don’t have enthusiasm to argue on this with the guy who clearly plays dumb on the topic.
Good luck.
@n0tatr33@anatoliisharii Poles can not accept UPA all they want. Ukrainians don’t have love for Pilsudsky, or Armia Krayova, or 17th cent Rzhechpospolita either
Ukrainians just don’t throw tantrums on Poles for their national myth. They do it on Russians, and even that became a trend only during wartime
@VladDavidzon Casually citing the fact that Kremlin army demolished Mariupol during Johnson cabinet and is still on its rampage here after all that time against us.
@ggreenwald@wastetime Ukraine is a liberal democracy.
The Russian invasion to Ukraine that prevents Ukrainians from holding elections started four British PMs ago.
@wyszukiwacz@sumlenny@donaldtusk I’m surprised you have nothing named after the guy. I remembered him being portrayed kinda badass in ‘Fire and Sword’ novel and had nothing against y’all having that perception while not sharing it.
@Chirurgic@Poslanetsss This bloke had a tantrum and blocked me, even though I merely pointed out there seems to be no access to OG article in digital form thus there’s no chance to verify what Vodoff’s claim was based on and whether Wiki quotes even him correctly.
Oh well.
@Chirurgic@Poslanetsss They cite for it some obscure source cited elsewhere only in copycat Wiki-like articles on the word ‘czar’.
With it not being available on web, visible in catalogue or cited elsewhere, it’s hard to guess what specific chronicle or document it refers to.
