Gonna sound silly but this is the mindset I have for doing superhero fan fiction.
It's also why fan au stuff made by people with a bachelor degree in reading cape comics don't interest me. There's too many citations and not enough personal innovation.

@harleyskooky I've had this exact same thought! I think there's a moralistic toxic-positivity vibe to gunnguys that makes them a bit more bold. Like they think they're being counter culture.
Everything is framed like a conversational mid shot. Even stylistic lighting as a framing device is minimal. It really contributes to the low energy feeling of this show.
It's such a shame that even hand picked promotional stills for this series are so compositionally flat.
Especially for a show that prides itself in being a spiritual successor to BTAS, one of the most expressive and dramatically composed animated series of its time.
