My 9yo just saw the John Travolta as Santa singing “Greased Lightning”, turned to me and asked, “What’s Santa’s favorite type of dance?” Then, completely deadpan said, “Disco-ho-ho”. It’s a little silly how proud I am of her natural level of cheesiness combined with wit.
I wept through most of worship today and it’s because this truth was reflected in every aspect from music, Scripture, prayer, teaching, and community. It was a hard day but a sweet reminder.
Corporate worship is designed to remind you that your world is not out of control, but ruled by your Lord, with infinite power, incomparable wisdom, boundless love and inexhaustible grace.
@kateshellnutt that also creates pay inequity for women because they can’t hold the job title of Pastor? Easy fix, if so, but something to consider in my opinion.
@kateshellnutt I’d also be curious to know if any churches have salary guidelines based on job titles. Can a female Children’s Minister earn as much as a male College Pastor or are there arbitrary guidelines created with the intention of serving Pastors well, 1/2
@Bec_Shrader My best explanation … these women aren’t actually working alone. They may live alone or be in a separate city but they’re serving on a team in a region and that team is headed by a man.
@JasonIsbell My 7yo daughter told my husband the Mrs was a movie she wanted to watch on Hobo Max the other day. That’s it’s official name in our household now.
@CharlieJSnicket I’m 98. Bjork and Blondie. That’s all I’ve got. Unless Idris Elba is actually Idris Elba. Then I’m 97. But I don’t know what to believe anymore so I’m guessing I’m 98.
@daverehab@plattdavid And I’ll be honest. I awkwardly worded that “McDonald’s restaurants” because I didn’t want to figure out the possessive/plural/apostrophe situation.
@bartbox77 … This was on my “to read” list before your sermon last Sunday but I’m glad to know this is your recommended version. That gives me hope I’ll enjoy it. Starting it tonight. We’ll see how it measures up to Chernow’s on Washington.
