Today the Senate adjourned in memory of my friend and mentor, former Alameda County Supervisor Scott Haggerty. A champion of regionalism, Scott was a dedicated public servant who strengthened our transportation systems and clean energy production. https://t.co/fpLd2x5zWf
Pleased to share that one more of my bills, SB 762, is on the Governor’s desk. This bill would allow Hercules and @CityofSanPablo to put tax measures on the ballot to fund essential services.
Looking forward to improvements at Oakland Chinatown's Lincoln Square Park. The groundbreaking of a new community recreation and resiliency center will provide community-driven benefits while highlighting the neighborhood's rich history and culture.
The groundbreaking of St. Paul Terrace, a 50-unit affordable housing development in South Berkeley, marks a significant milestone in addressing housing affordability. Thank you to Rev. Anthony Hughes and St. Paul AME Church, CHDC, and all those involved who made this possible.

California joins the nation in recognizing July as Disability Pride Month.
This month, let’s reflect on the essential contributions of people with disabilities to our communities, our state, and our country, and reaffirm our commitment to their rights and independence.
Gov. Newsom signed my first bill of the year, SB 830. This makes important changes to the Bay Area regional transportation tax measure, improving election administration, including a uniform ballot title, & allows for different ballot arguments to be filed in different counties.
Last week, I joined @CAgovernor in Oakland to celebrate the passage of new legislation to advance the creation of affordable housing, increase homeownership opportunities, and cut red tape. By making real investments in housing, we can create a more affordable future.
Crime in California continues to drop to historic lows. The latest data shows that our ongoing investments in violence prevention programs and addressing organized crime is making an impact, with the East Bay leading the region in the biggest drops in violent and property crimes. https://t.co/OAWCNE1MkK
The Zero-Textbook-Cost Degree Grant (ZTC) program is providing opportunities for students to obtain affordable education and set them on a path for success. I recently honored this program and the work of @CalCommColleges in making higher education more equitable and accessible.
Summer recess should not mean students go hungry. The SUN Bucks program provides qualified families of children who receive CalFresh or CalWORKS $120 monthly stipends per child during the summer. Learn more: https://t.co/aqNqldGK4S
Thank you @RepGaramendi for presenting a $850k check to support complete streets. Through local, county, state, and federal collaboration, we are transforming El Cerrito BART Plaza into a vibrant, walkable, vibrant neighborhood that will serve the needs of the community.
ICE agents have once again murdered an innocent person. We must demand accountability for the death of Lorenzo Salgado Araujo and the at least seven others killed by ICE. This is not making America safer; it's a cruel, inhumane, and shameful act of terror.
The ICE officer who fatally shot Mexican national Lorenzo Salgado Araujo in Houston on Tuesday was not wearing a body camera because officers in that field office were not yet equipped with them, according to a DHS spokesperson. https://t.co/iVr6rAcI4k
@MoniqueLimonCA Thank you to our friends at Oakland City Hall, the Native American Health Center, and Samuel Merritt University for taking the time to highlight the incredible work being done to uplift our communities.
Welcome to the East Bay, Senate Pro Tem @MoniqueLimonCA. It was great to showcase the progress being made in the region, from advancing careers in healthcare to improving local housing and homeless policy.
