Today I’m announcing my campaign for Indiana Secretary of State – as an Independent.
I hope you’ll watch this video where I explain why I’m running. Then go to https://t.co/LqI32fykfY to join our team!
@aaronmbauman @ConservingUnity@AGToddRokita Which I don’t believe the eyes on education website is something he should have established either. However it crosses a very distinct line when it moves from things posted or done in a classroom to things posted or done outside the classroom.
@aaronmbauman @ConservingUnity@AGToddRokita Which is supposed to be for things IN THE CLASSROOM. Not policing what people do OUTSIDE the classroom in their own time. Posting an opinion on a personal social media page is NOT AGAINST THE LAW. If there was a state law in place, it would violate the constitution.
@aaronmbauman @ConservingUnity@AGToddRokita No the people don’t. School boards do. People elect a school board, but the people do not hire and fire educators. Educators are not elected officials.
@aaronmbauman @ConservingUnity@AGToddRokita School boards determine that. Not the AG. Concerns should be raised with the school board. Not the AG. 👍🏻👍🏻
@aaronmbauman @ConservingUnity@AGToddRokita Therefore it is the school board’s place to hold educators accountable for social media posts, not the attorney general. Now if that post violates a state or federal law, then yes the attorney general may get involved. But a disgusting post is not illegal.
@aaronmbauman @ConservingUnity@AGToddRokita It’s not against the law. The SCOTUS precedent is that the employer can legally terminate and legally give consequence to the employee. Todd Rokita does not employ educators. Local school boards do. No law or precedent requires a district to terminate someone due to social media
@aaronmbauman @ConservingUnity@AGToddRokita Never said anything that said they can’t legally be terminated or face consequences because of it. So I will say again, it’s the local school board’s job to hold them accountable, not the attorney general.
@aaronmbauman @ConservingUnity@AGToddRokita The LAWS of the state. Please tell me what state law says an educator can’t post their opinions (regardless of what it is) on their personal social media accounts… school boards make policy for their local district. The attorney general does not enforce school board policy.
@aaronmbauman @ConservingUnity@AGToddRokita Then it’s their school boards who should hold them accountable (especially if their post violates employee social media policy) not the state attorney general.
@AGToddRokita Celebrating a murder is definitely a poor and gross decision. The attorney general “holding teachers accountable” for stuff they say OUTSIDE of the classroom that doesn’t actually violate state law or federal law is a violation of the Constitution.
@RobMKendall He did in warrick county. And the guy that spoke about his utility bills was not rude, did not yell, did not name call and Beckwith’s answer came back to how democrats shouldn’t run on trans issues and maybe they would get elected… the guy didn’t say anything about D or R.
Question Indiana GOP State Rep. Ed Clere asks: “How could the congressional map be in need of an emergency mid-cycle redraw, while the state legislative district maps are still fine?” he said. “I don’t think those two things are reconcilable.”
@AndrewIrelandIN You brought up New England and how they’re all democrat, as if the majority of New England is gerrymandered. The truth is the majority of New England states only have 1 or 2 US House Reps. If it’s a problem when one state gerrymanders then it’s a problem when our state does it.
A reader just sent this 2010 speech by Attorney General Todd Rokita proposing banning the use of political data (voting history, incumbent addresses) in drawing maps.
