@Positivteacha When I was alone as a teen/young adult, safety was always at the forefront of my mind. We always checked in with each other that we got home ok and some experiences of being approached by strangers reinforced the perception of danger. I think itโs real and justified for women.
@VerandaThought I was on M3 and a newly qualified teacher when I returned after mat leave (career change).I used a childminder to pay for as few hours as possible and then worked in the evening when the kids went to bed. Not for everyone but worked for me.
@MissHudsonHist Do you have boundless membership? Itโs for civil servants (including teachers). Lots of places discounted and will keep@you busy visiting them all. We are currently at the wetlands centre! Also high recommend Kew Gardens (also included with membership).
@FunkyPedagogy For my daughters Harry Potter themed indoor party I bought the plastic wine glasses (for goblets) and they decorated they with stickers, gems, metallic pens. They loved it and took them home with them. They then made potions with different fruit juices.
@AhmedKhattabUK My daughterโs birthday is 20th December. We got the 30 hours from the spring term (starting Jan) but this was 4 years ago now. I would take to your childcare provide as I only had to submit the code from the childcare account and they did the rest for me.
@KJF239 @STEMyBanda @edwards_dr2@MissBird90 I have never โmarkedโ class work but done folder checks. We have a mid topic long answer exam question on a separate sheet that is completed in exam conditions and marked with formative feedback. Only takes 10 min of lesson time to do and quick to mark.
@jessicawa93 We have moved to booklets after having packs of worksheets printed for KS3 during covid. Still working out the best formula for booklets; lots of retrieval, lesson activities and note guides. Cuts time wasted finding and printing resources and consistency across year group.
@mamabear3088@RogersHistory I started teacher training when my first was 8months old. Had my second after my NQT year. Definitely achievable with young children and as a second career but be prepared for it to be incredibly hard/ stressful during training. Great time to negotiate starting pay too.
@StuartLock@TeacherTapp has data on this. It sounds about right from what I remember and I am sure data has been collected at different points in the year and over several years.
@griff2742 Yes but it was in 2021 and I believe they have changed their model now. They focused on what we wanted the students to know in each subject at the end of each year and how it linked across the key stages. Ie, learn basic cells structure in Y7, build on it in Y9 for GCSE.
@MissgsScience All our students do triple science. We have not offered double science for a few years now. But we are a grammar school and generally the difference between high and low ability is not that great.
@RogersHistory Sleep deprivation is by far the worst part of parenting. When I returned to work I had insomnia as my youngest fed every 30min to hour. So even if he went longer I would be awake anticipating the next feed. So I did a good 6 months of work on only 2 hours a night before covid hit
@Dawn83204931 @FakeHeadteacher @MrTs_NQTs Unfortunately yes it was like this for me. I also added in being pregnant and a two year old. Maternity leave was a welcome break! It shouldnt be like this but even now I am working close to this. Try to brainstorm short cuts/time saving hacks.
@maternityCPD had no choice but to stop. Second time, currently school was very supportive, provided a room to pump and I continue to exclusively bf until 2 and half.
@maternityCPD The answer for me differs for each of my children. With my first, I started teacher training when baby was 8 months old and was faced with an unsupportive system. I was told for the 6 hour interview process (was baby was 5 months), there was nowhere for me to pump. I then felt I
