Why would the senators call NBI to secure them first, when the PNP is right outside the Senate building? According to our reporter, the PNP was not even allowed to go in when shots were heard.

Akbayan Party on Wednesday slammed Senate President Alan Peter Cayetano over what it described as his “reckless, chaotic, and disgraceful leadership” that turned the Senate into a refuge for fugitive Senator Ronald dela Rosa and plunged the institution into crisis and disorder.
“Alarming and highly suspicious”
Akbayan President Rafaela David described the reported exchange of gunfire involving alleged armed groups as “deeply alarming” and “highly suspicious.”
“We echo serious concerns that the incident may have been deliberately staged to manufacture chaos, potentially to mask an attempt by dela Rosa to escape and/or to pressure the Supreme Court into issuing a temporary restraining order (TRO) in his favor.”
“Obstruction of justice”
David said that under Cayetano’s leadership, the Senate has been reduced into a hideout for an accused criminal evading accountability. “This is outright obstruction of justice! It is an unprecedented disgrace to the institution and a betrayal of the Senate’s democratic mandate,” she said.
Akbayan also condemned reports that Dela Rosa was allegedly smuggled into the Senate using a vehicle linked to Cayetano, noting that Cayetano himself reportedly admitted that his vehicle had been used.
“The Filipino people witnessed a despicable spectacle, a senator allegedly being sneaked into the Senate using the Senate President’s own vehicle, followed by disorder and confrontation inside one of the country’s highest democratic institutions. That alone demands full accountability,” David said.
Akbayan said Cayetano’s actions constitute a grave abuse of public trust and accused the Senate leadership of using the institution to shield political allies instead of upholding the rule of law.
“The Senate must never be transformed into a sanctuary for fugitives and allies fleeing accountability. No public office, no matter how powerful, is above the law,” David said.

TAPOS PURO PALABAS LANG PALA COURTESY OF APC kasama ng mga lupon niya?
Malaki balik niyan, trust me.
(Screen grab from ABS-CBN News)
