While it is true that Ken Loach has made remarks and undertaken actions that are very distressing to Jewish people, Jamie Driscoll’s decision to share a panel with him in 2021 does not render him antisemitic, nor should it be cause for barring him from standing for election.

Yet the notion of ‘guilt by association’ as justification for barring from standing in elections is unhelpful, in particular because it’s not applied consistently. It has the hallmarks of ‘instrumentalising’ antisemitism for political ends which is divisive & counterproductive.
