I never implied she wasn’t smart enough. I said it’s a product of her upbringing and deserves compassion and understanding.

My point though, regardless of gender, is that some people are so abused they don’t know what’s better or that they should escape. It’s normal/acceptable to them. In a perfect world, yes, they leave. But it’s not as simple or black and white as that.

Lack of self-respect and is a symptom of abuse. Ofc course no one should have to cultivate it themselves the hard way. Not everyone has an awesome, supportive family.
