Happy Jewish American Heritage Month!
Yesterday, I joined Rabbi Noah Farkas for a fireside chat at the @JPACcalifornia’s Capitol Summit.
We discussed how California is proud to celebrate and stand with the Jewish community, as well as the vital role Jewish Americans have in shaping our state and nation.
“The First Amendment does not require the government itself to print and distribute [hate speech],"said @JFEDLA. "California’s own standards make it clear that candidate statements are meant to describe qualifications, not to serve as vehicles for hate." https://t.co/pHGJlCpXge
At a time of rising #antisemitism, protecting Jewish families, students, houses of worship, and community institutions isn’t optional — it’s essential.
That’s why I was proud to present over $1 million in federal funding I secured for @JFedLA's Community Security Initiative to strengthen safety through training, threat monitoring, and coordination with law enforcement.
I’ll keep fighting to ensure the Jewish community can live openly, proudly, and safely.

“Taking it down now is both a moment of profound relief and a reminder of the immense human cost that led us here,” said Rabbi Noah Farkas, president and CEO of @JFEDLA, of the scheduled removal of the five-story-tall yellow ribbon. https://t.co/s07PIfXibE

“We don’t know what the world we’re returning to looks like,” said Rabbi Noah Farkas, president and CEO of @JFEDLA. “But I can assure you that our Federation is there to take whatever action’s necessary to help the Jewish community.” https://t.co/yk15CUJkbO
As we bring in the holiday of Hanukkah, we stand in solidarity with our community in Australia & remind ourselves that even in the darkest times, it is vital to bring light into the world. So let’s light the lights & sing songs & let Jewish joy be the value we put into action.

JFEDLA joins our Federation partners around the world in mourning those killed in yesterday’s terrorist attack and praying for the full recovery of the wounded. May the memory of those we lost forever be a blessing.
In partnership with @JFedLA, the new Karsh Journalism Fellowship will equip reporters with the tools to cover Jewish life, antisemitism, and Israel with accuracy and depth—countering bias and misinformation in mainstream media. https://t.co/LiUtrFkW8I
Our Elected Officials Delegation, comprised of local leaders and lawmakers, was truly honored to meet with President @Isaac_Herzog and First Lady Michal Herzog in Israel today.
President @Isaac_Herzog and First Lady Michal Herzog today met with a delegation of prominent elected officials from local governments across California, led by @JFedLA: “In Israel, we are proud of our strong civil society, and we are proud of our strong democracy. I am pleased you are here - many for the first time - to witness for yourselves this amazing country and its courageous people. At the very top of our agenda and embedded in the hearts of all Israelis is the need to bring all our hostages home.”
It takes courage to boldly report the truth. Applications are now open for the Karsh Journalism Fellowship — the only fellowship in the world dedicated to equipping journalists with the skills to cover Jewish issues with accuracy, depth, and nuance. https://t.co/xpBhBMxVNw
