This is a video from the Weather Channel showing what happens during the different Categories of hurricanes from Cat 1 - Cat 5.

Currently Milton is a Cat 5, but it's supposed to weaken a bit before landfall.

This video does not address storm surge, flooding or sharks and alligators swimming through your kitchen, which happens during these more than you'd ever know.
