Okay, okay, this does make sense to be fair, I mean I understand that part of the valuation is a deterrent and maybe states to buyers how much the player’s importance is to the club, not just his ability. Ok
But check this concern that I also have, what happens when those fees become the benchmark for judging the player. Once a player arrives with a £100m tag, fans and media expect £100m performances from day one. EA might have a few quiet games, at Forest but you wouldn’t hear anything from the media, so no pressure unlike when he’s made the big money move and have a couple bad games
And then he feels the pressure and then the pressure gets to him and then in a bid to prove himself he works rather harder and the n injures himself and then tries to fight back and then comes back but struggles to get back in to the first team…Where did it all start from “ the price tag pressure”
I’m not saying Forest can’t ask for £100m bro they can ask for £500m if they want. Im saying there’s a difference between what a player costs and what they’ve proven, again FOR ME, £100m should be for players who’ve CONSISTENTLY performed at a certain high level, not players coming off a breakout season like EA
Fairs bro…I agree PSR or FFP is a big reason for the inflation. Clubs seems to be protecting their finances and maximising value. Me im just questioning whether £100m+ fees for players with one or two good seasons are healthy for the game or for the players who then have to live up to those price tags. Cos wether you like it or not they have to live up to it
Cos if they don’t it’s still same you and me that would ask for them to be offloaded o
@Philmsh79@FabrizioRomano No Phil
Clubs should charge the right prices
Isn’t EA having his breakout period?
I mean I know he had an excellent season
But then again shouldn’t £100m be reserved for world class players, players who’s had a couple CONSISTENT elite season?
Yooo, im not saying clubs shouldn’t make money or that they can’t value players however they want, my simple point is that transfer fees have become detached from what players have actually proven on the pitch, a club has every right to ask for £100m, but that doesn’t change the pressure and expectations that come with it. We’ve seen plenty of talented players struggle under the weight of huge price tags.
United alone
Antony
Lukaku
Pogba(I’m really sorry to add his name, cos he’s one of my favorite, but I just have to)
@_J_A_W@FabrizioRomano And that’s assuming pressure has no impact on performance. If that were true, clubs wouldn’t spend millions on sports psychologists.
No please
You can’t say these, well you can say it cos it’s your opinion, but you have to see it from another perspective I think
I agree that clubs can ask whatever they want and buying clubs don’t have to pay it. My point is that the fee itself creates expectations that can affect how a player is judged.
A player who costs £30m gets patience, but then bro a player who costs £100m is expected to dominate immediately. We’ve seen talented players struggle under that weight before or haven’t we?
Being a great player doesn’t make you immune to pressure; football history is full of elite players who struggled after big money moves.
£100m+ for Elliot Anderson is exactly what’s wrong with the transfer market. One excellent season and suddenly he’s priced like a world-class star. If he arrives and doesn’t perform immediately, the same people will call him a flop. We’ve seen this movie before.
🚨🔵 Manchester City remain in talks for Elliot Anderson after first bid rejected but Forest want more than 100m.
Understand Sandro Tonali is emerging as strong option for Man City if Anderson deal can’t get done.
Arsenal are also keen on Tonali.
