On this day in 1892, the incredible Milunka Savić – the woman who inspired our song “Lady Of The Dark” – was born. When her brother was unable to serve in the First Balkan War due to illness, Milunka disguised herself as a man and took his place in the Serbian Army. Her secret remained hidden until she was wounded in battle and doctors discovered her true identity while treating her injuries. Rather than sending her home, she continued to serve and went on to become one of the most decorated female combatants in military history! Listen to “Lady Of The Dark” LOUD in her honour today.
