@MetCastPod Yep. We'd have had $765M to spend on Alonso, a quality CF, some starting pitching, some relief pitching, and maybe $$ leftover to get a new 3B as well.
We'd probably be at least 15 games better than we are now.
@SNY_Mets And got paid $55,000 to do it.
Imagine making someone else's annual salary and all you basically have to do is exercise a couple of hours a day.
So he tries to turn an obvious single into a double, knowing he's not that fast, in the wrong situation, and that's okay. But when he doesn't run out a ground ball, that's okay too because he's 'making sure he doesn't get hurt.'
In other words, the Soto brigade will say anything he does is acceptable.
Sure. The problem this year - like last year - isn't that the bullpen sucked or sucks. It's that the starting pitching is so bad (can't ever go more than 5 innings) that the bullpen gets worn out by July and doesn't pitch well.
This year the starters are a bit better than last year, so the bullpen hasn't hit the wall yet. But it will happen if we have to keep using them for 4-6 innings a game.
The only person on that list I keep is Raley.
As for the rest, unless you package all of them for 1 really good player, you're not getting much in return. Peralta might get you a decent prospect. We'll have to pay someone to take Robert Jr. Vientos has done nothing this year to make him sought after. And the rest are middling players who might get a 2nd tier prospect in return.
@NYM_News Gotta trade him. We gave up 2 top picks for a rental - hopefully we get 1 good prospect back. But odds are we don't, because he's having a mediocre season and now he'd only be a 1/3 season rental.
So, it's a double loss for us.
@SleeperMets@Jpet_7 Stupid trade. Chapman is 33, hitting .250 with only 7 HRs. And we'd give up 2 big prospects only to be locked into 4 years of Chapman, who, according to the stats Stearns always preaches, must be approaching his downside.
