Reality: The claim is FALSE ❌

Facts: The 60% figure is being misrepresented. IMF research estimates that around 60% of jobs in advanced economies are exposed to AI, not that 60% jobs will disappear. Exposure can mean automation, augmentation or productivity gains.

The WEF projects that 170 million jobs will be created and 92 million jobs will be displaced globally by 2030, resulting in a net gain of 78 million jobs.

Rahul Gandhi: “Paper leaks harmed 7.5 crore students during the past decade.”

FALSE ❌

THE FACTS:

Under the Congress-ruled Karnataka government, organised cheating surfaced in the 2023 KEA recruitment examinations, involving Bluetooth devices and an alleged repeat offender linked to more than 25 cases.

In 2026, the ED investigated alleged corruption in KPSC recruitment involving a suspected question-paper racket, resort-based coaching, and payments reportedly reaching ₹80 lakh per candidate.

In contrast, the PM Modi government enacted India’s first dedicated central anti-paper-leak law, subsequently strengthening enforcement through investigations, fast-track courts, and time-bound trials.

Rahul Gandhi cites an unauthenticated figure of 7.5 crore, while overlooking repeated paper-leak and recruitment irregularities in Congress-ruled states.

The PM Modi government has responded with criminal investigations, institutional reforms, and enforceable central legislation.

On 17 June 2026, Rahul Gandhi, at his Rajasthan rally, claimed:

“In this system, if 1,000 children enter, only about 36 people will get permanent jobs. Roughly 300 will remain unemployed, while about 700 will become gig workers.”

FALSE ❌

THE FACTS

The claim that around 300 out of every 1,000 young people will remain unemployed is not supported by official employment data.

According to a Bloomberg News analysis of unit-level data from India’s Periodic Labour Force Survey (PLFS), 26 out of every 100 graduates aged 15–29 had regular salaried jobs in 2025.

India’s broader employment picture also does not support this portrayal. According to PLFS 2025, the Worker Population Ratio (WPR) among youth aged 15–29 rose to 41.4% in 2025, up from 34.2% in 2013.

The unemployment rate also declined from 7.71% in 2014 to 4.2% in 2025.

There is also no credible basis for the claim that 700 out of every 1,000 students—or 70%—will become gig workers. NITI Aayog estimated that India had 77 lakh gig workers in 2020–21, equivalent to around 1.5% of the total workforce. It projected that gig workers would account for about 4.1% of total livelihoods by 2029–30—not 70%.

RAHUL GANDHI CLAIM FACT CHECK:

“India’s final conviction rate for paper leaks is absolutely zero, with not a single major perpetrator convicted or sent to jail.”

VERDICT: FALSE ❌

THE FACTS

This is a classic example of turning a genuine problem into an absolute claim and ignoring actual court records.

In January 2024, a CBI court sentenced 10 accused, including a former Railway Recruitment Board chairman, to five years’ rigorous imprisonment in an examination-paper leakage case.
NEET-UG 2026: By 15 May 2026, seven accused, including the alleged source of the leak, had been arrested. The investigation and prosecution were ongoing.

The NDA government also enacted the Public Examinations (Prevention of Unfair Means) Amendment Bill, 2026, introducing stricter provisions, including tougher bail conditions, fast-track proceedings, imprisonment of up to 10 years, fines of up to ₹10 crore, and property confiscation for offenders.

The claim that “not a single major perpetrator has been convicted or sent to jail” is demonstrably false. Court records themselves contradict it.

RAHUL GANDHI CLAIM (Pune, 22 August 2026): Approximately 30%, or 29%, of women face physical violence.

REALITY: FALSE ❌

Rahul Gandhi deliberately relies on the NFHS-5 figure of 29.3%, even though the latest NFHS-6 data (2023���24) is now available.

More importantly, NFHS-6 shows significant progress. The comparable figure has now fallen to 22.3% — 24.4% in rural areas and 17.5% in urban areas.

He also leaves out the Congress-led UPA-era data. NFHS-3 (2005–06), conducted during the UPA period, recorded 37.2% of ever-married women experiencing spousal physical and/or sexual violence.

Since the Modi Government came to power, NFHS data shows a clear decline in spousal physical and/or sexual violence — from 37.2% in NFHS-3 to 22.3% in NFHS-6.

That means the comparable indicator has declined by nearly 15 percentage points.

The 2019 report that is cited did not state that 80% of engineers are unemployed. The report stated that due to a lack of skills, nearly 80% of engineering graduates were not sufficiently employable for knowledge-based jobs. Not being employable and being unemployed are two different things.

Another report from 2013 also stated that only 18.43% of engineers were employable for software jobs, with significant deficiencies in programming, domain, and communication skills.

Today, the situation is changing. As a result of government initiatives like Skill Development, the share of youth aged 15–29 receiving vocational training increased from 7.1% in 2017-18 to 26.1% in 2023-24.

Meanwhile, in the field of artificial intelligence, rather than jobs disappearing in India, a large number are being created. According to a 2026 analysis, there were approximately 83,100 hires related to artificial intelligence, while there were 31,921 layoffs/job exits associated with it—meaning about 2.6 new hires for every job affected.

There has also been expansion in the field of skill development. By August 2026, FutureSkills Prime had more than 34 lakh registrations, including over 9.58 lakh registrations in artificial intelligence and big data analytics.

According to Stanford's Artificial Intelligence Index 2025, the annual growth rate of AI-related hiring in India was about 33%.
