1/ Terra 2.0 is coming.
With overwhelming support, the Terra ecosystem has voted to pass Proposal 1623, calling for the genesis of a new blockchain and the preservation of our community.

1/ Terra governance prop #1623 to rename the existing network Terra Classic, LUNA Classic ($LUNC), and rebirth a new Terra blockchain & LUNA ($LUNA) is now live.

Contradiction between my desire to see Ethereum become a more Bitcoin-like system emphasizing long-term stability and stability, including culturally, and my realization that getting there requires quite a lot of active coordinated short-term change.

1/ Terra is more than $UST

[Do Kwon 🌕 @stablekwon]

1/ I’ve spent the last few days on the phone calling Terra community members – builders, community members, employees, friends and family, that have been devastated by UST depegging.

I am heartbroken about the pain my invention has brought on all of you.

1/ On algorithmic stablecoins & the UST collapse:

There’s no sugarcoating it, this is among the most painful weeks in crypto history & one we'll reckon with for a long time to come.

Some thoughts for policymakers as they consider the path forward for stablecoin regulation 🧵

The Terra blockchain has resumed block production.

Validators have decided to disable on-chain swaps, and IBC channels are now closed.

Users are encouraged to bridge off-chain assets, such as bETH, to their native chains.

Note: Wormhole bridge is currently unavailable.

1/ This week's events may become one of a few historic moments in crypto that not only ushers in a new protracted crypto bear market (12-18+ months)—but in time, leads to greater regulation, maturation, and ultimately the next (and even bigger) bull market.

Some insights...

1/ The prevailing peg pressure on $UST from its current supply overhang is rendering severe dilution of $LUNA.

The primary obstacle is expelling the bad debt from UST circulation at a clip fast enough for the system to restore the health of on-chain spreads.

[Do Kwon 🌕 @stablekwon]

1/ My thoughts on @IronFinance and building new algo stablecoins 🧵

1/ Dear Terra Community:

[BackBone Labs Hub @BackBoneLabsHub]

Peg update: We will likely see TFL (or someone) minting $luna at a loss for the next several days in order to absorb the $UST contraction. While this is necessary, it unfortunately takes the profitable peg arb trade away.

The way it goes:

• A crisis starts (eg. Covid-19 in March 2020)

• The government prints money to stimulate continued economic growth

• Inflation and the circulating amount of money increases

• People get more money –> they now both invest and spend more money

1/ The LFG Council just voted to deploy 1.5B in capital (0.75B in BTC, 0.75B in UST) to allay market concerns around UST. Some more context on why and how:

1/ With the passing of Prop 26, $ANC tokenomics are getting an upgrade! 🎉

Let’s dive into what the move from $ANC to $veANC will look like & how it impacts voting, staking rewards, & the soon-to-come collateral gauges which could lead to the #AnchorWars⚔️ 🧵
