A tennis player who made $25 million hitting a ball just took a desk job at a Swiss bank. And the bank might be getting the better end of the deal.

Gael Monfils is 40. Zero days of finance experience. On paper this is a retirement hobby.

But think about what a private bank actually sells. The product is trust with rich people, and Monfils spent 22 years inside the most concentrated pool of new money on earth. Pro sports is an industry where a 24-year-old signs a $50 million contract on a Tuesday and has no plan for it by Friday.

The numbers on what happens next are brutal. A famous Sports Illustrated investigation found 78% of NFL players in financial distress within two years of retiring. Athletes rarely lose money to bad markets. They lose it to people they trusted for the wrong reasons.

Banks figured this out years ago. UBS built an entire athlete wealth division and put a former NFL defensive end, Adewale Ogunleye, in charge. The ex-teammate gets the meeting the Harvard MBA never will.

Now look at Monfils. He already lives in Geneva. His wife Elina Svitolina is still on tour, so his locker room network stays warm for another decade. Every player he's practiced with, dined with, or lost a five-setter to over two decades is a future client.

Banks spend millions chasing one meeting with people like that. Monfils spent 22 years in the room with all of them.

That's the hire.

We have 15,430 beekeepers in Canada. We export about $60 million of honey a year, $40 million of that to the USA. That honey now has a 50% tariff and our farmers are going to have a tough time selling it.

Canada imports a lot of honey, about $73 million of it. Some of it isn’t even real honey (seriously it’s faked with rice and cane syrups eww).

Check the labels. As a country we are spending $73 million on imported honey and looking at loosing $40 million in exported honey to the USA. It’s kinda simple math. Buy Canadian honey.
