@Kaira94124647 In my area, the municipality already provides door-to-door collection and repeatedly instructs residents to segregate waste. This isn't a case of ‘govt didn't provide a system’. The system exists, but people still dump waste. At least where I live.

@commonman1521 @rphviews I am travelling on a bus and a person threw out a wrapper from the bus window despite there was clean dustbin inside a bus. There is written there that don't litter in there and keep the bus clean. It's not like govt is doing nothing.

Japan is not a small city. It is a large, crowded country of islands, mountains, farms, and huge train stations. Even so, it looks unusually clean.

That does not happen by chance.

The first lesson is taught to children. They clean their own classrooms and often the toilets. Many walk to school and learn the road. They are told that a shared place belongs to them too. A child who has wiped a floor is less likely to treat the street like a dustbin.

The second lesson is social. Litter is not only against the law. It is shameful. Neighbours, shopkeepers, and station staff notice. Public bins are few, so people take their rubbish home. You carry what you create. That one habit does more than a thousand campaigns.

The third lesson is daily work. Stations are swept before the morning crowd. Shopkeepers wash the pavement outside their door. People remove shoes at the entrance of a home. Toilets are built so they are easy to keep clean, and they are checked often.

Culture helps. Dirt was long seen as something that stains more than the floor. Washing, sorting trash, and not walking around dropping food became ordinary manners.

After the war, Japanese cities were messier. Campaigns, rules, and a better standard of living rebuilt the habit. A big country is not kept clean by one authority. It is kept clean by routine.

Every school, every rail company, and every local office repeats the same small acts. A large country stays clean when millions of ordinary people do a small duty every day, and when leaving a mess costs you respect.

@Aayushgiri1307 Social media represent that tiny tiny percentage of genz cleaning the rivers and public places. Vast majority of genz are studying, don't worry about that.

@av_186 @Aayushgiri1307 Your $5,000 fine actually proves my point. the US treats littering as an individual's responsibility AND government enforces it. These aren't alternatives. Govt provides/enforces the system and citizens don't litter. ‘I pay taxes’ is not a licence to dump garbage.

@av_186 @Aayushgiri1307 Sarkar ka role hai, waste management me. Once kachra arrive in dustbin, it's their responsibility to collect it and process it appropriately. It's our duty not throw garbage in rivers, public places etc. and it needs be taught since childhood by parents, schools not to litter.

@av_186 @Aayushgiri1307 Baat kachre ki ho rahi hai, sadak ki nhi. It's govt responsibility to repair sadak but it's people's responsibility not to throw garbage outside. I often see people throwing wrapper outside the bus window even though there is a dustbin inside a bus!

@1no_aalsi_ Yes, exactly. This kids should be in school or college doing cutting edge research but we people keep dumping garbage in rivers and keep blaming govt, instead of people who who litter first !
