On the ground here in TR. This small mountain community is silent today. Very few people out and about. Roads closed. Police tape and barricades up with a heartfelt handful of flowers for the victims.
When I was writing this I went down a rabbit hole of private equity buying (and lowering the quality of) fast food outlets like Tim Horton's, Subway, Quizno's. Breyer's technically not being "ice cream" anymore. I couldn't work it in but food is increasingly engineered.

Just spoke with Deputy Chief James Docherty of the Calgary Fire Department. He relayed to me that 13 people were rescued from the flash flood on Highway 1 tonight. Incredible work by their aquatic team.
There has been a water infrastructure failure in Bowness, causing significant localized flooding and road closures. 2000 homes and 100 businesses have been affected by the service disruption. Please assist our emergency crews and first responders by avoiding any non essential travel in the area surrounding 16th Ave NW and Sarcee Trail NW. The seriousness is being investigated and we will provide more information as soon as possible. #yyccc
