Today was my last day interning at Brookside. It was so sad but I am ready to present the past weeks of hard work at the symposium! The students made me goodbye cards, so I added a few! #YHSWISE2023#WISE#Education@YHSMrsMero
In Life Skills, the teachers in the room are always monitoring the students behavior. A great way to do this is to have the students constantly monitor their own behavior by using these different color zones for each emotion! #YHSWISE2023#WISE#Education@YHSMrsMero
This week with Mrs. Livermore, I told her my WISE internship was coming to a close. She knows I will visit all the time before the end of the year comes, because I truly enjoyed every moment spent in the classroom. #YHSWISE2023#WISE#Education@YHSMrsMero
May 1st was decision day! We all wore our college gear and took pictures in front of the husker wall! I'm sad to leave my best friends but so excited for my next four! #YHSWISE2023#WISE@YHSMrsMero
During reading time, the students have been working on a project called "Nonfiction Text Features About Me". They aren't done yet, but here is the start of one of the projects! #YHSWISE2023#WISE#Education@YHSMrsMero
Today was the Scholastic Book Fair at Brookside. The students were so excited about purchasing their new books! I love when they decide to challenge themselves, and read a book outside their reading level! #YHSWISE2023#WISE#Education@YHSMrsMero
In the life skills class with Mrs. Livermore, I had a one-on-one with a student! That means I directed and helped the student with their reading/listening all on my own. I loved it, and I am so appreciative to have these opportunities! #YHSWISE2023#WISE#Education@YHSMrsMero
In 2nd grade, the students work on building the basic foundation that we use in our writing everyday. Attached is a worksheet they received while writing their sea animal research papers to help aid with paragraph transitions! #YHSWISE2023#WISE#Education@YHSMrsMero
Like @DevinBGWISE says, we were working on our project on our fields and I really like the way it came out! Acronyms are an amazing way to teach anyone of any age what to do if there is an emergency. It's so important! #YHSWISE2023#WISE#Education@YHSMrsMero
I really enjoy spending time with the teachers during my internships. They are always willing to help and share their amazing ideas. Attached is something Mrs. Livermore created to help her students practice real life job experiences! #YHSWISE2023#WISE#Education@YHSMrsMero
I love the tips and tricks that teachers use to stick that information in the students minds! When they receive a vowel team they have to mark up their words. This ensures they really understand the sound and why it is spelt that way! #YHSWISE2023#WISE#Education@YHSMrsMero
I have officially committed to Marist College! I will be in their School of Social and Behavioral Studies for Education. I am not 100% positive about what grades I want to focus on, but I am keeping my options open! #YHSWISE2023#WISE#Education@YHSMrsMero
This week I started to think about my final project. During my Mero Meeting, we brainstormed some ideas. I am making a "Are you smarter than a 2nd grader?" PowerPoint. I began collecting questions and designing the presentation today! #YHSWISE2023#WISE#Education@YHSMrsMero
Today at Brookside the students read a book called "We Are The Gardeners" by Joanna Gaines. The students then got to plant sunflowers for the school garden! #YHSWISE2023#WISE#Education@YHSMrsMero
While in Brookside, I spend some time listening to teachers discuss plans. I realized I didn't know a lot of the education-related abbreviations and I looked up an article to become more familiar with these terms! #YHSWISE2023#WISE#Education@YHSMrsMero

This week at Brookside, I read a book called "Can I Be Your Dog?" by Troy Cummings to the class for their lesson on fiction vs. nonfiction! After we read, they chose a book and explained why it was fiction or nonfiction! #YHSWISE2023#WISE#Education@YHSMrsMero
At the 2nd graders age, their reading levels are constantly changing. Something the teacher does is organize the books in reading levels. This is so the students can "bookshop", and switch out old reading levels for new ones! #YHSWISE2023#WISE#Education@YHSMrsMero
When it is someone's birthday, everyone gets a worksheet where they draw what they would like to gift them. When done, all the pages get stapled together to make a birthday book for them to take home. I love this idea!
